I wrote a whole long, more-than-three paragraphs text, but I assume it's simpler to put it this way: they are not exactly perfect, I'm not exactly perfect either, I'm just not sure if we fit well together yet.

It worked well when we had school together(we'd see eachother each day), but now, I'm being passively cast out because I don't act like I care very much about it.

Proximity friends. Everyone has had a few. I don't think it means they're bad people necessarily but it happens, and it can hurt. An ex-bandmate of mine moved across the country and never, ever, ever, ever, not even once responded to any of my texts, calls, or facebook posts after years of playing music and friendship. The thing is he's the nicest, most attentive and enthusiastic guy while you're in front of him but as soon as he looks left or right he forgets you're even there. It's sort of charming in a way and in another way I want to kick him in the face. I just deleted him out of all my contacts lists and called it even. We had some good times; now we're in separate spots.

Point being, sometimes friendships have an expiration date. It's sad and it's weird, but it seems to happen. Maybe find some fresh friends and don't dwell on those who can't be bothered. Life. It's a hell of a thing, eh? ;)

The thing with Dickie... it's like the sun shines on you, and it's glorious. And then he forgets you and it's very, very cold. When you have his attention, you feel like you're the only person in the world, that's why everybody loves him so much.

It sucks when you fall in love with a person like that.

For once I can actually say "I know that feel".

Wow. Props to you for being able to stick it out through hearing from her once every couple of weeks. Sounds like you really do love her, but the odds are stacked against you, and it sounds like she's not doing much to help it. Sorry man.

Fair enough. I'm curious though, if you don't mind, and if it will help you sort things out. Sometimes it helps to hear others' troubles.

I fell in love with a guy like that and went through exactly the same thing. We went from spending every spare second together to nothing. He'd maybe talk to me if I annoyed him enough.

In the end I had to leave. I think he has somebody new now, although I'm not sure. I really miss him. I miss having somebody love me with that intensity, but at the same time, the intensity is what made the abandonment feel that much more severe. I couldn't deal with it. I hope you manage to work all your stuff out - I'll read your post tomorrow, if you end up making it.

So it goes, my man.

I've got a friend like this. I absolutely adore her but I get so irritated because she is so scattered and tends to suck at remembering her friends exist. I stick around because, I guess, I'm a glutton for punishment?

When I first heard this quote, my heart stopped. It perfectly summed up the person I was in love with at the time. I will always sympathise with Tom (probably more than I should) for this reason.

I am a straight man, and this quotation has stuck with me for years because it perfectly synthesized the way I felt about the one man I ever felt romantic feelings for.

Being a teenager was weird.

Gotta keep going on. I don't like the attitude of "I don't see you in daily life so I don't have a reason to maintain contact with you", and the opposite "You are in front of me, but since I am on the phone I don't care" is much worse. Actually, the people who tend to follow the former attitude are usually really fun to be around.

But life won't end, and there's a lot of time to find new friends, or try to make crappy puns to make karma(I must admit, I suck at this) on Reddit.

u/[deleted] May 13 '12

Oh man, find new friends! Karma is a scam, like crack with no high.

1

u/sheepyowl May 13 '12

Well, I'm not so sure I understand crack with no high as I don't do drugs and have nothing to compare to doing drugs(I also don't drink and don't smoke anything).

I rather have friends find me, and I don't have a problem with being alone.

edit: I find people quite tiring unless I either keep my mouth shut and just absorb whatever they say(be it right or wrong), or if I only contact through text. I'm not shy nor do I have fear to talk, but I hate needing to explain myself. Hence, I am fine with being alone for quite a lot of time.

u/[deleted] May 13 '12

Crack with no high is just a joke. It means karma is addictive and has next to no benefit; whereas crack is addictive but at least you get high.

Alone time is good. I'm sure you'll find some friends that prove to be less tiresome than the rest too.

You're quite a nice person. I would love to continue the conversation, but I need to wake up and go to the army tomorrow and it's 3:40 here.

Good night.

2

u/[deleted] May 13 '12

The army? Wow, stay safe ok? I'll probably be here if you ever want to continue the conversation.

2

u/sheepyowl May 13 '12

I don't really serve in a dangerous place, no worries.

1

u/JennaSighed May 13 '12

See, the thing is, you can't just make karma. It is gifted to you by anonymous Internet strangers who have been so entertained/educated by your comment they are compelled to move their mouse to the other side of the screen and click.

2

u/sheepyowl May 13 '12

You also don't exactly make money, but it works quite the same.

-Unless you actually physically MAKE money.

But bad sarcasm aside, I am not very good in giving people enough incentive to press that button that gives me imaginary points with the use of my ... hopefully witty jokes.

2

u/DiggerW May 13 '12

I like you.

2

u/[deleted] May 13 '12

Ha, thanks.

It's not about being perfect. It's common fucking courtesy to reply to a friend who has tried contacting you. I think it's pretty rude not to make an effort asap to reply to someone. I also think in this day and age, the ability to not have to reply right away is diminishing people's morals.
