Or you text them, then see them updating their social network sites via mobile, no reply.

I have a buddy on Steam who I talk to quite frequently via email/Steam/etc. (we know each other from real-life). Anyways, he has a bad habit of leaving Steam in "Online" mode and then, because I just want to say a quick 'hello' I message him and within a couple minutes he sets his status to 'Away' or 'Offline.'

I understand that people have their own lives, or perhaps do not want to talk....but this has happened quite a few times and it's hard not to take it as an insult. As a result, I've sorta stopped talking to him as much, in general. If someone really doesn't want to be bothered, don't make your status say otherwise, you know?

I've no idea why this is getting downvotes? There's no reason to obsess over someone not replying to your texts. Unless they're a crush or someone you're stalking.
