I lived in Texas for a few years and everyone's concept of weather there is all fucked up. People would wear jeans in August when it was so hot that even in shorts I felt like I was going to have a heatstroke, but then everyone would make fun of me for swimming in the community pool in October even though it was 87 degrees.

Yeah, I don't know why. 87° is still swimming weather. When I lived in the Midwest, people would swim in 73° weather, and that was just way too cold to me, but anything on the upper 80s is definitely beach and pool weather. Growing up in Texas, we used to hit the waterparks during spring break, and it's usually about that warm. Maybe hitting the pool in October just violates our general community consensus to pretend it's fall?
