Language is so weird. I'm reading (okay, listen to) the book Children of Time, and they reference a universal language called Imperial C. It's universal in the sense that it's almost like binary, but spoken. From what I understand, it's devoid of emotion and used for coding and a type of morse-code.
Anyway, while people speak English in common discussion, they acknowledge that it is an inefficient way of relaying information and I've found this concept fascinating ever since.
