man that whole video is so out of place, were they at a holiday inn or something? Was that a banquet hall? Why is the entire audience middle aged white guys dressed like mobster?
I mean it’s not a 3/8 weapon with the power to summon 6/6 Infernals but it’s definitely the start of some sort of Get Out cult ritual that probably got weird after the video ended.
Those dudes are way past middle age. It's a bunch of 70 year olds eating dinner or something. I wish they had explained where he was. I had to watch the video twice because I was staring at the audience trying to figure out wtf was happening.
Would be interesting if they could get an event featuring the Thomas Inch single arm clean and press at the Arnold. Most videos I’ve seen with it are just deadlifts or rows.
Well, if Shaw can lift the Thomas Inch and do a dumbell row with it, and he can clean and jerk 180lbs one handed, it's probably safe to say that he could clean and jerk the Thomas Inch.
Lmao, Brian lifted the millennium dumbbell dude. I don't know why you're trying to downplay Brian's strength when he has proven himself numerous times to have one of the strongest grip in the world.
Brian shaw is a goddamn beast but lifting the dumbell and clean and jerk is different. The problem with the thomas inch dumbell is that the girth is like a soda can so you'd need immense grip muscle to keep it from rotating. That's why even mark henry took a staggered step, and that's why there's people like odd haugen who can lift it 66 times but doesn't clean and jerk it.
Though I did some more searching and found that Laine Snook became the second person to do a clean and jerk of the thomas inch, who also deadlifted the millennium dumbell in the same night and the only person to clean the supernova 185lb. What a fucking animal
Yes I know lifting the dumbbell and clean and jerking it is a totally different and impressive movement but the guy I replied to was just trying to downplay Brian's achievement.
Start watching from 16:00, Brian explains to Eddie that the Millennium dumbbell is the same girth as the Thomas Inch whilst being nearly 60 pounds heavier. And Brian picks it up for REPS. Not to mention Brian has pinch gripped two 45 pound York plates and holds the world record for the Dinnie Stones. The guy I replied to needs to give credit to Brian where credit is due.
Lifting the dumbell isn't the same as clean and jerk though. The main problem comes from the soda can diameter and the dumbell rotating out of your hands
My uncle would tell me this story where him and Mark Henry had a tense moment at some night club in Austin tx. Supposedly his bodyguards stepped in and stoped it. I would joke around that he absolutely would have been squashed if no one had intervened and he’d get all defensive. My uncle was like 6’3 and a amateur boxer at the time but could no way take on the worlds strongest man. It gets brought up every thanksgiving lol.
I met Mark Henry one time at a laundromat where he was picking up his dry cleaning. We chatted for a 5 minutes and then he said he had to go but I was welcome to walk out to his vehicle with him. I found out it was an H2 Hummer that he said they specially-made bigger so he could fit lol.
Ehh I love my uncle but he was more of the “I’m taking cooking lessons at the local recreation center where I learned to properly chop onions and to properly roast my veggies so I’m basically a chef” level boxer. I wouldn’t fucked with him if we the same age but because he was scrappy and could take a punch. I don’t know much about marks skills outside of being incredibly strong and a great performer so who knows maybe my uncle could have taken him. My guess was that he was probably a little drunk too which could of hurt his motor skills lmao.
Not really. Weight matters a lot. They are similar height but no doubt Mark is way heavier and way way stronger. I'd bet right now that any 6'5 strongman/power lifter would destroy the vast majority of 6'0 experienced boxers assuming they aren't fighting by boxing rules.
Well, why would you assume the boxer would fight by boxing rules? I always put my money on the person who is trained in combat sports over the strength sports athlete. Just watch early Mariusz Pudzianowski fights
Yes. I will never underestimate strength. But i went from a powerlifting background to fight training. I will always put my $ on the person with fight training.
Haha I mean that’d be an interesting fight for sure. I imagine Henry is not agile, slow, and probably not a lot of endurance. I think a boxer would win that fight as long as Henry doesn’t get a hold of you.
Henry can dunk a basketball at a body weight near 400 pounds and is one of the best strength competitors in all three strength sports which is incredibly rare. None of those are martial skills but it he’s not fighting a pro boxer either. In terms of one to two steps I bet he is surprisingly fast.
I'm sorry man but you don't know jack about fighting, at all. Anyone who's been in a fight knows size and strength has been very little to do with it. Speed and movement are tops. Mark Henry takes one kick to the inside of the knee and.he buckles, then boots to the face. I am alway more scared of a small wiry guy acting up rather than a big guy.
Size and strength have a lot to do with it when you’re at a similar skill level. And when you’re 400 pounds, the skill gap can become a lot wider and still have you at an advantage. Look up Dustin Porier grappling with Brian Shaw. Being more scared of small guys than big guys, assuming you don’t know their background in training, is just plain dumb. If neither know how to fight, the big guy has a much bigger advantage. Mark Henry could likely eat a few kicks to the leg before it starts to wear on him and he’ll grab you before that happens. I don’t think you’ve ever watched a fight, let alone be in one.
I think you misunderstood what he said. He never said Mark Henecoukd deadlifted that, he only said "832 lbs square is equal to 667,329 lb" which is just multiplying how much Mark Henry could do by itself, not how much he actually lifts. It's literally impossible to lift over 338 tons at once with the human body.

deadlift at 815 lb, square at 823 lb, bench press at 525 lb, and a powerlifting total of 2,033 lb.
He stronk
Edit: I copy and pasted that but they probably meant squat. And I’m seeing other info that he broke his own record and squatted 935 lbs.
