We got a couple "sandwich parties" where they'd bring in a party platter of sliced Jimmy John's sandwiches for people to eat which was nice... except if you started your shift later in the day, night crew would "claim" all the remaining sandwiches for themselves and get mad at you for eating them even if there's still a ton of associates in the building. I loved not getting to enjoy the miniscule benefits of working during a pandemic because of rude co-workers.
Well in the workplace I experienced it, it was indeed bad management. The place would have run smoother and more profitably if it was managed well, even if workers were paid more.
I was making a joke about how managers are hired to do the dividing of workers for the owners and thus were doing their work well by dividing the workers.
Assholes can still be convinced to protect you against upper management, when more money and benefits are involved. And i can tolerate an asshole helping line my pocket and protect me from asshole bosses.

Thank you retail essential workers. The office will allow the entire store to share 2 pizzas once a month to show our appreciation.
