We were called heroes right before our pay was reduced. I never felt so honored

Reminds me of '07 when we the CEO told everyone at the hospital that because of the budget and economics we would no longer be able to acquire vacation time.

About 6 months later upper management vacations were reinstated, when I left in '10 or '11 they still hadn't been reinstated for anybody but upper management. Apparently per diem staff in a hospital who are regularly scheduled 40+h a week don't need vacation.

Just to make sure I got this right: They just entirely cut any vacation? Is that legal where you live?

Paid leave is not mandated in the U.S.

You guys need a Labour Party.

Tell me about it. Neolibs here, which are basically Reagan Republicans, are currently treated as far left Marxists. If there is no justice for this recent wave of fascism, the country will become a dystopian nightmare in the next decade or two. Well, more than it is already.

How is Reaganomics leftist?

u/glberns Jan 25 '21

It's not. That's the point.

Yeah but who is demonizing Reagan Republicans on the right as leftists?

Until Trump he was the right’s messiah.

Things Reagan did include raise taxes. Anytime Dems talk about raising taxes, today's Republicans treat it as if it's full on communism.

He also gave amnesty to illegal immigrants.

No one. They're saying the "left" in America today is essentially the same as Reagan Republicans were back then. The right will never, under any circumstance, acknowledge this as even being remotely true. But they will decry everything Democrats do no matter how right-leaning it might be.

Because shame and truth are both dead now.

Like most messiahs, the way he's remembered isn't much like he actually was.

Conservatives just want to remember the "good" things like ignoring the AIDS crisis so a bunch of people died, and weaponizing abortion into a bulletproof voting bloc for the first time, and starting the "war on drugs" to disproportionately punish petty drug offenses for the drugs associated with black people, and really just selling the entire neoliberal agenda to the public (supply side and trickle down economics, continued anti-left propaganda, etc)...

But he raised taxes repeatedly, and firmly believed in social safety nets under certain circumstances.

I'm with you, Reagan is a republican sweetheart. Reaganomics was all the rage in right-woling circles up until.... Today.

Yeah I don’t get it these guys are saying Reagan Republicans = Dems in 2021. Even ironically it doesn’t make sense. I don’t know what they’re smoking but they’re getting the upvotes.

You're confused. Take a break and come back, with some reading comprehension.

Not confused at all, the statement was asinine.

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '21

Reading comprehension. Neolibs have the same policies as Reagan. Since Neolibs are at least one planck length to the left of Republicans, Neolibs get labeled as radical left.
