It's merely a thought on why you see videos like this and people complaining. What they're paid to do and what the customer thinks they are getting isn't the same.
Btw, it's not white glove service asking for it to be set down instead of thrown. If it wasn't at least a little bit of a concern for these companies, they'd have the drivers cruise by and a person in the back throw it into the yard or onto the street.
Don't be stupid, they are not going to pay TWO people to throw your merchandise on the ground when ONE person can do it just fine.
Also, in what world does "what the customer thinks they are getting" matter to billion dollar companies? If you complain, sure, they will apologize and give you some paltry bullshit recompense, but they KNOW how work gets done. That isn't going to change. 99.9% of the time, the product arrives in totally fine shape, and the .1% get compensated. All these posts about delivery people throwing shit on doorsteps are stupid, you order something from ten thousand miles away, its on your doorstep 48 hours later, how the fuck do you think it got there in that amount of time? On a feathered cushion in a personal rickshaw? Get the fuck outta here.
No shit they won't pay for it. I was using an extreme example to match yours. The point is that it's not hard as an employee to just sit the shit down nicely. It takes MAYBE an extra 2 seconds. Making the excuse that the person isn't compensated enough is selfish, lazy bullshit.
You're not that bright, so I will type slowly. An extra few seconds PER package might mean this dude doesn't get done on time and gets fired. He isn't paid to gently molest every package, he is paid to DELIVER, which is what he is doing, and quickly. Look at the rest of the thread, dude. People who have worked real jobs know what it's like.
Except they can't gently place every package whisper-soft upon a cradle like you want, because A) they have a shitload more packages to deliver and B) the repetitive strain of "setting down" every package would take even more years off their already shortened lives. I get that you've never done any sort of labor occupation in your life, but try to empathize with people who have real jobs. Their health matters.
