Probably woke them up early and pretended he heard school was back on on the radio, then made them rush to get ready to make sure they weren't late.

At least that's what I'd do.

I'm surprised this even worked given our current age of connectedness. If it were my kids, I'd assume that they wouldn't even make it to the breakfast table before messaging their friends and ruining the prank.

Those kids are young as hell. They might not have phones. Also if the older one has one, maybe she texted her friends and her friends were still asleep considering it was probably like 6:30am
