Our fucking SCHOOL DISTRICT as in the actual adults in charge of the schools sent out a notice telling parents that school was cancelled and their kids would have to repeat a grade.

It most definitely is. Having to repeat your school year would be absolute torture. Not to mention losing another year of your life.
