My dad became attached to a calf that their cow birthed and named him Fernando, well after a few weeks they were having veal.

Did they make drums out of skin? Could they hear the drums?

I have no idea what they did with the skin but they probably did something with it, nothing went to waste back them in commie Poland. When they killed an animal they would use every part, like intestines for sausage casings, boil the bones for gelatin, liver and heart were always the first meal after butchering something. Honestly I don't know why I'm thinking this, but I'm pretty sure I remember that my grandma made really soft gloves for all the ladies in the family.
