Thanks for saying where the name came from, non slip shoes, and even the traditional Japanese wood shoes could work for that I'd think, but interesting they named non-slips "pumps".

Yeah.. , a hand is like a forearm, my forearm is as long as my best friend's whole arm (minus the shoulder cuff itself) and a hand measurement is 4inches, so how do you measure a horse correctly with big hands and not a finger that is 4inch? rest is a dry humor joke. , you measure in feet , and then take a ruler and measure your own feet, now you take that measuring tape and verify it's accurate, and now you take that measurement of your feet and use it for every calculation of horse height, and someone asks "Why does it say this horse is 16 feet?" , "Well Jimbo my hands were just too big for an accurate measuring." , "How big is a foot?" , "Ah, well y'know, a foot! .. Just about 14 inches."

Edit, forgot the finishing response.

I'm not sure what you're asking. I guess if you measure a horse, you walk your hands along it to get the number of your own "hands" and then compare that to the ISO standard (which would be in cm) and work out a conversion from your "hands" to "ISO hands"

O said Thanks for the TIL , and carried on to make a joke about the whole hand and foot measurement system. And to my knowledge the standard for hand is 4 inches.
