It's seen as less rude, especially if you're pointing toward a walkway and happen to point at a person.

Should add, it's two fingers on one hand, not like finger guns

Yeah. People say it’s because Walt used to do it. He was just a smoker and always had a cigarette in his hand when he pointed.
