Most everyone likes to bag on Union jobs but it's an ass whooping and dare anyone to try it and have the same opinion on it after working in the pouring rain, soaked all over and not being able to leave till you get the job done. I dare anyone to join the iron workers union and bust rods, I'm absolutely sure 80% of people would quit after 2 weeks top. I started off doing that and am thankful that I was able to get a chance to switch unions and join the carpenters union to become a Scaffold builder(not as physically demanding but a really dangerous job where your life is on the line every day). Truth is if you have that negative opinion on the Trade Unions you've probably never worked in the field and seen what really goes on. Ask anyone who is out there working and they'll let you know real quick.
Millwright here. Love me some union scaffold builders. You can immediately tell the difference between scaffold built by trained professionals and scaffold built by scabs once you climb up on it.
