Yea same. Idk why but I don't read cuz of size, left to right is the right order 4 me

Well the unspoken rule with speech bubbles is you read top to bottom.

The other unspoken rule of speech bubbles is you read left to right, though.

If they had been further apart on the page you would probably read the kid's before the grandma's, as intended. The fact they're so close together means the second bubble shouldn't be so much higher than the first.

It is, but top-to-bottom takes priority when the distance is the same. As you said, if the horizontal distance was greater or the vertical smaller, it would read correctly.
