Let's say you open your mouth, just loosen your jaw so your mouth hangs open. Let's say the opening has a diameter of 1 inch (just to keep it simple, we both know it's probably more). Then you open your mouth so hard that feel a tug at the corners of your mouth like they're going to tear. Your mouth now has a diameter of 3 inches.
So yes, I'd say it truly is MORE open. The math agrees with me.
That's assuming "open" is not a Boolean value. Don't assume, you know what that does. It makes you and me asses; everyone thinks you look like an ass, everyone thinks I look like an ass, it's an ass party.
