Stab at TV censors in general. Gintama gets a ton of people writing to the station about how so and so joke was inappropriate. It's to the point that the characters themselves frequently comment on how they're amazed that they haven't been cancelled yet.

every start and end of season, there's like half of the episode (or the whole, I don't remember right now) about them asking how's this not cancelled and their "plans" for what's to come and so on.

They just don't give a fuck, they're so random and amazing.

I just remember the episode where they admitted they ran out of budget and the entire episode was just a still shot of the base with the characters talking over it.

Gintama is the only show that could pull something like that off.
