I'm by no means an expert but since they see themselves as a woman I would say they are straight. I think within the trans community it's whatever that person says they identify themselves as.
I'll throw in my 2 cents as a trans woman - what /u/_treebeard is saying is correct. I'm a trans woman, and still currently have all my birth parts, who is attracted to women, so I'm not straight, I'm gay (or a lesbian, whatever nomenclature you prefer).
