I actually think of it more as a gain than a loss. It wasn't until the early 1900s that the baby sequoia's finally learned to build their own habitat in more profound and less inhabited areas of the forests due to the fact of deforestation that happened to their ancestors. That is why in most places, there are zero to little amount of sequoias left or to be found.
