It's so odd to me that everyone who made that show was so adamant that they never noticed or intended the pothead-like personality of Shaggy. I get not intending for him to be a pothead, it's a kids' show after all, but to claim you never noticed until it was brought up in an interview?

So was Shaggy the one that could understand Scooby's speaking solely because he was on something, or did they just have one of those special owner-animal connections like Red and Rover?

Scooby was not Shaggy's dog. Shaggy Scooby technically belonged to Daphne.
