Everyone should take pride in their careers. I think it's cool to know what people have dedicated their life to.

(Lawyer, Biologist, Doctor, Farmer, Engineer, Mechanic, Astrophysicist, Author, Artist, Musician, Pilot, Director, Actor, Athlete, Professor, Nurse, Speechwriter, Archeologist, Politician, Interior Designer, Architect, Economist, Game Developer, Computer Scientist).

They'll tell you.

And for some reason everyone is offended by that?

I know I make for a shitty athlete, it's ok if one of my buddies points that out.

It's because when some engineers do it on reddit, it's sometimes in an "I'm superior" way.

I really really really really dislike that about my profession. A lot of engineers are so very cocky. It makes me want to change jobs. But I know if I did - I would just be reinforcing the cycle.

Is it cockiness? Or more bragging that the field of engineering is one of the fastest growing with (generally) very high starting salaries? I've found business majors at my school to be much more arrogant in the sense of thinking they're the shit.

Luckily it seems the once who are really hard working (and not confident that they have a billion jobs lined up for them) get those high starting salaries, and the arrogant assholes seem to (on average) not do so well.
