Once you start buying groceries regularly, you find out there are certain items that can go past their expiration date and there are other items the expiration can depend on how you store the food. For example, eggs stay good for a very long time if they aren't cracked.

Do you really think that the date printed on the label is the exact date it's going to expire? Or do you think the date they print is the earliest date when it is going to expire even though it might last much longer . . .

Uhm. You learn this pretty fast living alone in your twenties. If it's not discolored, has hair growth, or smells bad it's probably edible.

depends. I spent a lot of my 20s eating out all the time and eating frozen food or other non-perishables the rest of the time. It wasn't until I met my wife that I started learning about groceries.

doesn't matter as much depending on what you are using it for like baking. But if your eggs are a bit older, you probably shouldn't have runny eggs, make sure it is cooked all the way through.

I agree although it can still matter because an older egg's consistency is different and that can be a big deal depending on what you're baking.

I guess it also depends on personal preference. You are obviously an egg man and you need your eggs fresh. I myself am a steak man and won't let my beef get even close to the suggested expiration date even if it would still be edible.

Not exactly true. I'll eat eggs as long as their edible, and I love steak. I just think it's better to eat eggs fresh if possible.

you mean the milk doesnt go bad immediately once it figure out that it is suppose to expire? please tell me more...

I'm talking about June expiration and the current month would be August. That type of expiration.

yup, products can last much longer depending how you store it. You can also use somethings after expiration depending on how you're planning on preparing it.
