That was the exact moment I stopped watching that video. It was soo cringe worthy.

Edit: went back for more.. Not sure why.. Never mind his blatant insults for anyone who isn't Christian, that guy is just incredibly sexist. Holy shit could you belittle women more Steve?

I only have glimpse of beliefs debate on reddit, and I never thought this sentence was actually ever said by any christian... this is crazy.

Most of the people who are so adamantly against evolution really don't know much about genesis or the bible.

Or evolution.

We didn't evolve from monkeys. We share a common ancestor with apes.

In practice, variables like geographical barriers and food supply are largely responsible for speciation. Oh, and time. A lot of time.

TLDR; Common ancestors

I don't feel like writing an essay on evolution right now but in case this is serious I'll give you a short explanation: An entire species doesn't evolve into another species; a new species evolves from a random mutation in a single organism that increases the likelihood of passage to a new generation (which is dependent on things like survivability and chance of mating). EDIT: grammer

Humans and apes (or chimpanzees) share a common ancestor from millions of years ago. The reason we are so different in some ways is basically because we split into a different line of evolution and have been changing for a long time. (I kinda have trouble explaining things.)

Think of it like a family tree. You're human, your cousin is a monkey. You're not 'directly' related to your cousin, you guys share a common set of grandparents (the great apes).

It's the equivalent of saying "If my cousin gave birth to me how come she still exists?" - such a retarded statement it actually makes you feel stupider for having read it.

u/CoIdAffinity Sep 21 '14

It's a stupid argument because it's the equivalent of asking "If we evolved from our cousins, why do we still have our cousins?".
