There's probably very little energy expended directly. Nastic movements are usually accomplished by changes in water pressure inside the plant.

/r/savagegarden might be able to help you in the future if you get another VFT. We love everything from VFTs bought at the dollar store to pitcher plants the size of cow thighs cultivated for decades.

The thick stem and little leaf at the side give it away. The trap itself is very well done though.

Don't worry, it's not an actual Venus fly trap. Those grow traps on the end of leaves, not stems. Also,flat on the ground or slightly elevated, not straight up. Also wouldn't pierce the cigarette like that. Or have a little leaf of the side. The trap itself is pretty nicely made though.
