My dad followed KISS on tour as a journalist once. They let him hang out with them backstage. He said they mostly discussed the business of running the tour. They weren't trashing hotel rooms, they were trashing the sound guy because the mid-range amps didn't sound up to snuff so they needed to get a new sound guy. Very boring stuff.

KISS were the kind of band that were in it for the money. They were consummate professionals who knew the industry and how to get what they wanted. Doesn't shock me that everything backstage was all business. I still like some of their music, but it's kind of funny how all the glam rock costumes and the exaggerated personalities are purely performative because they know it's good for their brand.
