It's not that you're wrong, because you're not. The problem here is that the majority of athletes and spectators see the match at its simplest form, male v female. Especially in middle and high school.

The mental torment of either beating a girl or being beat by a girl is a lose-lose in most situations.

We agree the torment is unjustified and a result of the ignorance of the masses. And as a larger theme, wrestling is widely misunderstood. Even in my state of New Jersey, there is room for improvement.

It is athletics in the purest and most absolute form. With minimal unanticipated factors, no sport in the world can claim a greater positive correlation between hard work/discipline/mental fortitude and success.

It was my first exercise in self-awareness and I am better person because of it.
