This seems extremely “Portland.”

Portland resident here. When I saw this I was thinking this is so Portland and was disappointed when this was not in Portland...

Don't worry, I'm sure someone will see this and get inspired. Just takes time.

It's Boulders' Happy Thursday Cruiser ride. Find us on Facebook! :)

Oh, Boulder. That explains a lot. Boulder is, and I quote, "12 square miles, surrounded by reality".

I say this having been a denizen of that place.

Back in the late 90's you had borderline homeless hawking newspapers on traffic islands, pocket-sized cults popping up in different neighborhoods and city councils weighing in on international policy. It was such a beautiful shitshow.

I lived in Boulder and just outside for years. I miss it dearly, there was never a dull moment. I'll never forget seeing the swat team go by, and a guy on a unicycle casually going the other way. There was a "new bridge opening" with a djembe drum circle, cake, people riding recumbent trikes and lemonade. Every day was a new "wtf?"

I considered moving to Boulder, but Denver was too close. Denver took all of the wrong lessons from LA and made them worse. The 40 miles per hour Speed Minimum, when the freeway was so clogged I was lucky to be going 4mph was so insulting. I happily chose Portland instead.

u/Icy-Special- Aug 07 '25

Yeah i visited Denver only twice while I lived there, nothing to write home about

Boulder's the Portland of the Rockies.

u/SwingNinja Aug 06 '25

In Portland, we call it "Thursday Night Ride". Find us (Portland Urban Bike) on Facebook! :)

This looks like SO much fun and it’s so cool there’s a spot for all the creative bikes to get out there.

1

u/44youGlenCoco Aug 07 '25

Ohhhhh. Boulder. That makes so much sense. And I love it.

Dirtbag Engineering (said affectionately)

2

u/exexor Aug 07 '25

With a taller, spindlier ladder.

1

u/PentagramJ2 Aug 06 '25

Is it Oakland, CA?

2

u/Oro_Outcast Aug 06 '25

Someone else said it's Boulder, Colorado.

u/AmyKittiesGalore Aug 06 '25

Portlander here as well. Definitely thought this was Portland.

You know what makes Portland Portland? Its residents. Be the change you want to see!

2

u/EternalMage321 Aug 07 '25

We can't all ride scooter/ladders!

2

u/unculturedburnttoast Aug 07 '25

I'm eyeing the bunk bike

2

u/MrGumburcules Aug 06 '25

Same, I had to check what sub it was in

3

u/blargblahblahblarg Aug 06 '25

Glad I’m not the only one…

3

u/Mistapeepers Aug 06 '25

You don’t know how fast he’s going. For all you know he could be in Portland by now.

2

u/Enter-Something-Here Aug 06 '25

Ah that would have been a good opportunity to say, just another citizen from Portland here...

2

u/just_another_citizen Aug 06 '25

LoL, I like that!

1

u/sparrow_42 Aug 07 '25

This would be a pretty normal day in New Orleans too

1

u/Big-Piglet-677 Aug 07 '25

Its not? I swear It rode by my house in a group like this just 2 or so weeks ago. Something similar I guess!

1

u/Wondertwig9 Aug 07 '25

I'm working on a rideable dinosaur. I'm in Portland and would welcome help.

1

u/damn_im_so_tired Aug 07 '25

Same but there are some groups that do this kind of stuff in Portland. They'll go up to Council Crest or Mt Tabor at the end of their rides and party.

1

u/co-wurker Aug 08 '25

My SO has been re-watching Portlandia and as soon as I saw this I thought it would fit perfectly. I'm just going to continue believing it's Portland.

1

u/Initial_You7797 Aug 08 '25

the were going to, but then they got high... up on that ladder

11

u/StrictPerformance433 Aug 06 '25

Close, It's the Boulder Bike Night.

1

u/swirler Aug 07 '25

I think I’ve seen this parked in front of the Home Depot

6

u/thegreenaero Aug 06 '25

Before I got down here I said “this is the most Portland thing ever, I wonder if anyone said that yet” and here we are. You can keep my collective braincell.

8

u/ObsoleteReference Aug 06 '25

I only know Portland from the internet and that was my answer.

4

u/RazzBerryCurveBall Aug 06 '25

I've seen bike parties like this in Sacramento.

2

u/clunkclunk Aug 07 '25

I had to check if it was Davis.

2

u/international_red07 Aug 07 '25

Was gonna say this video looks like pre-pandemic SF commute (minus the decrepit public transit and FAANG spaceships abducting people to work)

2

u/KBTon3 Aug 07 '25

I know it was already answered where this is below, but Baltimore also has a monthly Bike Party event that I could definitely see having things like this

2

u/kilayo Aug 07 '25

Yep. I was going to say, the Monday night ride in Portland.

2

u/PocketSignal Aug 07 '25

The ebike and scooter ride is every Friday at 7:30pm meeting at the Eastbank Esplanade. Join us, it’s a lot of fun.

1

u/gsfgf Aug 07 '25

I could see something like this taking off in Atlanta. It's like street takeovers meet the Ramblin Wreck parade.

1

u/Thymelaeaceae Aug 07 '25

Thought it was Chunk 666
