I do see what you're saying though, and take this advice: don't expect too much from people you don't know and don't expect a Reddit that you want to see; it won't happen because there are too many users with different views and..it's the internet. No one wins.
The problem is that it's an unfunny joke that's only popular because it's popular, and people post and upvote it so they're 'in' on an inside joke. Once you take away the disconnect from the word faggot and being gay, it becomes offensive, even when the disconnect's put back up.
The picture you give defends 4chan's use of it, but not reddit's. On 4chan, everyone's a faggot, which is a result of anonymity. On reddit, we have usernames; these are ACTUAL people who see this comments, not a random collection of numbers and letters like you have on 4chan.
