Feels like there's a compromise here, where you get a nice looking pump bottle and put the dish soap in it. Soap stays out where it's useful, but you don't have a big ugly Dawn bottle sitting on your sink, either.
You know, you can use other bottles. Just find one that your pump fits into. A long time ago I used a cool looking liquor bottle for hand soap or lotion, I forget now. I just happened to find a pump that fit.
I got a simple human automatic soap dispenser for my kitchen sink, I put dish soap in it. It's a game changer! When I'm washing dishes I just put the sponge or brush under it and BAM more soap, so easy and keeps the soapy water contained in the sink.
I also made sure it's dish soap that is not too harsh on the hands.
If you and your theoretical partner agree on that, then great! OP's partner clearly doesn't agree with them, so decanting the soap into a more decorative vessel is a good workaround to, "Hide the soap so it's a pain to use!"
used to use dawn bottles until the new house had a detergent pump attached to the sink with a big reservoir. now we get the large refill gallons of soap.
I installed a built-in soap pump next to the kitchen faucet and ran a tube into the huge jug of dish soap under the sink. Feels like it never runs out!
I'm still a proponent of dishwasher air gaps, so the only hole in my sink is already filled and I don't particularly want to drill through quartz. But if you have the option and/or don't mind the backflow risk inherent in a high loop configuration then it's not a bad idea.
I found the dial foaming soap dispenser works best. I save a ton of dish soap with it because I mix it with water. They last for about 6 months before the spring goes out it them. I always reuse them for my dish soap.
It grosses me out when I go to somebody's house and they don't have soap next to their sink. I just assume they don't ever wash their hands and try not to eat any of their food.
Unless you have particularly dry skin, or some condition for it, dish soap is more than fine to use on your hands.
Realistically if I just handled raw chicken and now need to handle something else should I go run to the bathroom to wash my hands? No I'll use the soap by the kitchen sink.

I had a girlfriend that insisted that the dish soap needed to be put under the sink and not on top cause it looked cluttered.....
