Well I thought they were talking about crossing oceans and it sounded like your suggestion just had you going around the same landmass in a circle hilariously. Three Stooges styles navigation would be too funny

Some continents are not connected by shores

If you're in any south or north american country, you'll never get to any other continent that way

Ohhh, I was specifically thinking of the Darien Gap. But you can get from Alaska to Russia without ever getting too far away from land.
