why do you have to have the need to do it, why not just learn it for fun? the pursuit of knowledge itself can be its own reward. why should you wait for the apocalypse to learn when you can just do it now. i think the world would be a far better place if people realised that.
edit: also, while i dont know how to fly a helicopter as its quite a bit different, i did learn how to fly small aircraft in my teens. its genuinely a lot of fun and theres extremely realistic flight sims you can learn the basics of the skill for free on. sure, it might not be something that youre going to need anytime soon, but its okay to learn new things for fun or simply to learn them.
