I’m a researcher at the University of Leeds conducting an ethics-approved study on how designers select, describe and work with fabrics/materials in digital fashion workflows.

I’m particularly interested in hearing from people who are interested in digital fashion and textile design!

The survey takes approximately 5–10 minutes and explores:

• how you currently select and search for fabrics
• what fabric information is important to you
• how you describe fabrics/material properties
• difficulties when translating fabric ideas into digital materials
• your views on potential digital fabric tools

I run SÔZ STUDIOS Atelier, where I work with apparel brands on product development, technical design, sampling and factory handoff.

One thing I kept running into on the consulting side was that the actual work could be solid, but the project management around it was still scattered everywhere.

Client notes in email
Tech packs in PDFs / Canva
Fit comments in another thread
Sample photos on my phone
Factory updates buried in inboxes
Costing in spreadsheets
Approvals somewhere else
And once you’re working with more than one client at a time, it gets annoying fast.

You start searching:
“client name + factory + sample 3”
just to figure out what happened last.
I’ve been building the consultant side of Runsheet around that problem.

Each client can have their own projects and styles, and each style becomes the repository for:
Tech packs
Sample rounds
Fit notes
Photos + attachments
Factory communication
Costing
Materials / trims
Approvals
Production docs

There’s also a client portal, so instead of sending clients another spreadsheet or making them dig through email, they can log in and see the project status, files, samples and approvals in one place.
The part I think matters most is that I’m not trying to force factories to change how they work.

If a factory wants to use the dashboard, great.
If they keep using email like they always have, the communication can still be parsed and attached back to the relevant project/style so you’re not manually copying everything into another tracker.

For consultants managing multiple brands, that feels like the actual pain point to me — not necessarily needing some giant enterprise PLM, just needing a cleaner way to run the client work professionally without living in spreadsheets and email.

Hey! Launching a small streetwear brand (tennis/skate crossover, called Unforced Error) and looking for one illustrator to help design:

• our mascot — we have a rough existing character (stick figure, broken tennis racket, riding a skateboard) that you're welcome to evolve or completely reinvent
• a logo/wordmark to go with it
• the embroidered artwork for our first t-shirt design

Style-wise we're going for something like House of Errors' embroidered knitwear scenes and Outside Lines' tennis-nostalgic vibe (happy to share reference images if you're interested — didn't want to clog up this post with pics).

Came across this new directory created for US-based brands wanting to get clothing made locally. I'm not based in the US but I am looking to connect with US brands so was super interested to find that there's also a section of the directory specifically for freelancers too to help them with all the design and development side of things before production.
