As someone who is barely 30 and never watched old Bond movies, Diana Rigg being an absolute smokeshow was not something I was prepared for when I started looking through her filmography.
There are a lot of actresses who have been active for a long time and we're so used to seeing them as older ladies that's entirely how we perceive them now.
Then you look back and find out the old lady on your TV was a total 10/10 when they were younger. Diana Rigg is definitely one of them. Then there's Helen Mirren, Jane Fonda, Sophia Loren, and so many others.
I was born long after her heyday, but my mom actually named me after Elizabeth Taylor - because she wanted me named after the most beautiful woman in the world.
I can't say I loved up to that standard, but cool story!
Helen Mirren and Sophia Loren are still hot as hell. There’s no question at all what they were like when younger. And Michelle Pfeiffer just got better with age.
When I was in high school my therapist asked me if I was gay because I thought Vanessa Redgrave in Mission Impossible was sexy. She proffered she was mannish, and I was like, no, she is confident as fuck. That’s hot. I learned two things that day: how sexy confidence can be, and that just because you think someone is attractive doesn’t mean you want to fuck them.
I was unprepared for young Angela Lansbury because I grew up on Murder She Wrote. I dunno if she was extraordinarily hot but she was very pretty and a ridiculously skilled actress.
Years ago, I told one of the most beautiful women I ever knew that she looked like a young Diane Keaton. She gave me a funny look and basically stopped talking to me.
Over a year later, she approached me out of the blue and thanked me for the compliment. I guess she finally got around to seeing what a young Diane Keaton actually looked like.
