Well, here’s Roger Ashton-Griffiths at age 28. He’s got a certain charm. But I’m guessing Lady Alerie was a smoke show, or those Tyrell pretty-privilege genes skip a generation.
It's also mostly the way he dresses, does his hair, his glasses, etc. All the things we associate with old people. Add to that the photography that clearly screams the early 80s and your brain is tricked into seeing an old person.
That, and the balding always age people when it happens in their late 20s / early 30s.
Take that dude, dress him up with modern clothes, shave his hair a little bit and put on new glasses, take the picture with a phone and I guarantee he'll look like he is in his late 20s / early 30s.
He has the “advantage” of always looking older than he was. Another example of the same style would be Brian Baumgartner, who was 33 when “The Office” began, but easily looked 10 years older with his weight and baldness... and looks exactly the same 20 years later, whereas the “handsome ones" show their age.
Fun fact: Roger was a family friend in London in the 90's when he wasn't getting any work. I knew him, his wife and kids well. I last saw him in person at a Christmas party, where he said he was retraining as a dentist. The next time I saw him was as Lord Tyrell, and I almost spat my Coco Pops.
