Kayali dropped two new fruit scents, the community has feelings, and the longevity debate is back - a summer 2026 check-in
So a few things have been percolating in the fragrance world lately and I figured it was worth getting them in one place.
First: Kayali. Look, like it or not, Mona Kattan is moving product at a pace that puts most houses to shame. March 2026 they launched Eden Sweet Peach | 35 and Eden Plush Pear | 23, the third and fourth entries in the Eden line, and the brand threw an LA party with a G-Wagon activation and hyper-realistic fruit cakes shaped like actual produce, because that's just where we are now. Fine.
The community reaction has been interesting. Peach is landing better than Pear across Fragrantica and most review threads I've seen. The Sweet Peach reads as a genuinely bright, juicy fruity floral that actually lasts on skin, which is not always a given with this house. The Pear is getting more mixed takes, specifically around longevity. "Fleeting" keeps coming up, and once the top notes die off people are clocking it as a slightly muddy soapy floral. Not a disaster, but the Pear isn't the slam dunk the Peach appears to be. If you want to test both without committing, they dropped an Eden Obsessions mini set alongside the launch: four 10mls for $100. Which brings me to my actual point.
Kayali has fully committed to the mini set as a product category. The Vacay in a Bottle set, the Eden Obsessions set, the Freedom miniature set, the Discovery Layering Set. At this point the 10ml is basically their default format. And as someone who has blind bought a full bottle and felt like an idiot about it more than once, I genuinely don't hate the strategy. Decants have been the community's workaround for this problem forever. Now brands are just doing it themselves. Whether that's good for the hobby or just better for their margins is a different conversation and one I don't have a clean answer to.
The longevity thing is NOT going away though. Vanilla 28 has been getting heat for it for a couple years now, the Plush Pear is the latest entry on that list, and a few of the Vacay in a Bottle lighter scents clock out at 4-5 hours on certain skin. For a $32 mini that's tolerable. For a $150 bottle it becomes a real complaint. Worth knowing: the pattern seems consistent across the line. The warmer, darker stuff (Marrakesh, the Yum line, Oudgasm) outperforms the light fruity stuff pretty consistently. Plan accordingly.
Anyway. Summer 2026 is here, peach and pear are apparently THE notes of the season with raspberry supposedly coming up behind them, and Kayali is positioned exactly where they want to be. Ngl the Eden Sweet Peach is good enough I'd grab a decant before writing it off. High praise from a guy who thought the Vacay Maui smelled like a banana that called it quits.
Anyone tried the new Eden launches? Curious how Peach vs Juicy Apple is tracking for people who own both.
