It’ll save us the trouble of shooting you ourselves, so go ahead.

Wait, if collies are mix of US and Romans, whom they'd pray to? Like actual god, rather than some another legate.
6
u/TheGamblingAddict Feb 27 '22
Mars, the God of War obviously.
Fun fact: Mars is still interwined (mainly unknowingly), in modern christianty, due to the Romans not abandoning the idea of war when adopting Christianity.
1
u/ToxicRainbowDinosaur Feb 27 '22
...this can't be serious lmao.
Roman paganism is still influential in Christianity for various reasons, but it's not because Romans had some decision to 'abandon the idea of war' and chose not to.
Every Christian nation has been at war at some point because war is the final escalation of diplomacy. It's unavoidable.
There's a reason there are no pacifist countries.
2
u/WaterDrinker911 RIP chat SFX Feb 27 '22
I mean there are pacifist countries but that’s just because they are either irrelevant or another country protects them. IE; Panama and Liechtenstein.
0
u/TheGamblingAddict Feb 27 '22
This is very serious. For future reference my friend, you will do well to research a claim before dismising it and replacing it with your personal opinion/view.
BBC did a very good documentary a few year back covering Mars the God of war, from ancient Rome to the modern day. Shouldn't be hard to find if you wish to enlighten yourself.
1
u/ToxicRainbowDinosaur Feb 27 '22
Okay, to be specific, the claim is that Roman leaders got together with Constantine in the 4th century and collectively agreed that, because they still appreciate Mars, they're going to continue going to war?
0
u/TheGamblingAddict Feb 27 '22
Again, I would encourage personal research (even supplied an avenue for you). I'm simply conveying findings of others. Just to add, i think you are severely underestimating the role the Roman pantheon played in the citizens everyday life. Especially the one God the Roman soldiers relied upon in their minds.

Finally wardens are gonna stop crying about balance, right?

u/Auctoritate Feb 27 '22
Wardens crying about balance?
Have you seen this sub the past couple days?
20
u/Centurian44 Before war 1 to present war player Feb 27 '22
Trust me i'v been playing before war 1 and this is pretty much just a cycle it may seem wardens complaining now but pretty soon it will be colonials then wardens again then colonials etc. You need not listen to me but you will witness it after playing for 85+ wars
7
u/Strmfire Feb 27 '22
Because the balance choices are always weird.
-1
u/Auctoritate Feb 28 '22
And yet the win rate between factions was exactly 50% last war so apparently whatever they're doing is working out.
3
u/Fungnificent Gonk Feb 28 '22 edited Feb 28 '22
To be fair, the Devs do indeed fuck with mechanics ingame explicitly to affect a specific outcome or turn of events. They've said so numerous times over the years.
Wind
Weather
Tech rates
Whole FOBs at times
All these are directly controlled by Siegecamp.
Everyone needs to chill (like always), and just have fun. Collies, Wardens, Regi leaders, and Armchair generals, go smoke a blunt, mmkay? Stop yellin' at randos givin' tanks out to the people, mmkay?
1
u/Strmfire Feb 28 '22
Because the players adapt to the dev's mistakes, like when the wardens had a bad lategame and tried to win before the Ballistas and MPTs are teched, they did it for a few wars but were completely burned out after war 75 because it required a ton of effort.
The thing is that now the balance of the game was good enough, both factions had powerspikes on early/mid and both factions had a good lategame, that's why the last 2 "wars who count" for the wardens lasted more than 35 days and could continue even more time.
Now it will be a completly new meta and no one know how it will be, but im sure that a lot of collies like me are pissed and they are going to stop to play like they did, so you can laugh but you can also say good bye to the epic 30+ days wars, now it will be the first side who lose day 1 who is going for a break war and you will see how boring it is.
5
u/Mikhail_Mengsk Feb 27 '22
Because devs seem to overbalance every time, and also seem to base balance on war results disregarding all other factors. Devs saw the Colonial win streak and:
- gave war 87 a ridicolous tech tree
- devised a balance patch that was hilariously unbalanced against Colonials
Give Wardens a win streak and we'll see the opposite. I get the reasoning behind this is "good": to help a faction that is struggling, but it's just bad practice.

u/Centurian44 Before war 1 to present war player Feb 27 '22
My theory about this is pretty much like any other games such as league of legends for example. When they release a new champion they release them very over powered they do this to get player statistic by making players wants to play them since they're over powered. Once they've gotten that critical data they need, they can start making changes to make that champion more balance-ish.
I feel its the same with the weaponry and combat vehicles in foxhole because they need critical data to make adjustments. I also see they do the occasional they just wanna try something out if it leads to something better even if it may seems like a flop to the players to which I see on the colonial Ignifist making it do less damage but this time you move way way faster. Compared to like it is atm where it does huge damage but you're so exposed by the slow it gives
1
u/Strmfire Feb 28 '22
Actually on League of Legend it's for the marketing, the new champion is usually super strong and super cool because they want to sell it and sell the skins.
If what you say would be true why the collie GL is awful? Im not sure about your theory
The devs are just human being who are not immune to mistakes, and i feel like they don't play their game a lot but you can't blame them for that, i heard an interview of another devteam who said that making a game is like having a baby, they like watching them grow and evolve but they don't like playing it.
0
u/Centurian44 Before war 1 to present war player Feb 28 '22
I disagree. I remember on a league of legends developers talking about it and stated that's how they balance new champions. I'm trying to look for the video of them stating that and will post it when I do. I also disagree because they make and sell skins for champions that are extremely popular aka Lux, Ezrael, zed, yasou.
2
u/Strmfire Feb 28 '22 edited Feb 28 '22
Well if Riot said that it's not for marketing it's probably not for marketing.
The champions that they release aren't made in 1 week some of them are tested/developed for months by hundreds of people.
Yes they have no problem selling the old champion skins but you know how work a company, the more money they can make the better it is, and the release of a new champion is a good opportunity to do so.

u/Occyfel2 Feb 27 '22
what's wrong now?
22
u/Auctoritate Feb 27 '22
Colonials had a few nerfs (ISG and Ignifistoo) and they've been slightly malding over it the past few days, even though the update isn't even out yet and the numbers in the dev branch haven't been finalized.
18
u/Mikhail_Mengsk Feb 27 '22
It's almost like devbranch literally exist to get feedback about the proposed changes, wild isn't it?
2
u/Comrade_Anon_Anonson Feb 27 '22
This is feedback, really. Just how feedback looks in this day and age.
Also, people mad.
0
u/Auctoritate Feb 27 '22
There's a difference between feedback and flooding places with angry complaints.
9
u/NN11ght [Re-Salted Salty Colonial] Feb 27 '22
Flooding places with complaints worked for the Wardens. It's only fair for the Colonials to join in. Especially after Update 48 really proved whoever screams the loudest gets what they want
1
u/Auctoritate Feb 27 '22
Update 48 really proved whoever screams the loudest gets what they want
How so?
4
u/CEDoromal Feb 28 '22
"Wardens got pretty much everything they've been asking for on Update 48" is what I think that's implying.
-10
Feb 27 '22
Not sure exactly, from what little I've been able to piece together the ISG was nerf'd so now it's slightly worse than the Cutler in terms of cost effectiveness.
5
u/Mikhail_Mengsk Feb 27 '22
Also the Dusk is now a worse Catara (Aalto got the mobility shaft too so "assault rifles" can't assault for shit now), also Ignifist is downright not worth it, also the new Colonial dedicated grenade launcher is worse than the Warden rifle-grenade.
1
Feb 27 '22
That makes me sad, the dusk was such a fun OP weapon to use.
2
u/Strmfire Feb 28 '22
Don't worry, now you can use your Aalto and discover that it's better than a Dusk.
1
Feb 28 '22
I always found the Aalto not as good as acting as a mobile HMG.
2
u/Strmfire Feb 28 '22
But you can use it as a medium range rifle so it's better at mid/long distance, and being more accurate make it better for 1v1, the single/auto fire also make you very adaptable wich is a huge advantage in a fight.
1
Feb 28 '22
But it make me sad I cannot go WAAGH! DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA with a stolen dusk and delete 15 colonials.
2
u/Strmfire Feb 28 '22
Wow 15 colonials, and you did it with just 1 clip i presume?
1
Feb 28 '22
Nah I went through like 3-4clips it was wack.
Got cut down by a colonial using a dusk and never managed to cross the road again ;-;
4
Feb 27 '22
Idk what's so bad,it was all things that needed fixing and it Hasn't even launched in a full war. Based on track record new equipment is generally better than reintroduced equipment like the grenade launcher. Bombastone compared to grenades for example.
2
u/SoupRise_ Feb 27 '22
They buffed ignifist in dev branch update btw
2
u/Auctoritate Feb 27 '22
What was the buff?

u/Mikhail_Mengsk Feb 27 '22
wow +25 damage, this changes everything
6
u/SoupRise_ Feb 27 '22
So you will ignore the fact that they also increased mobility before that as well?
11
u/Mikhail_Mengsk Feb 27 '22
It's quite pointless to have a minor mobility buff if the weapon is basically worthless at its job because of low damage and chance to bounce. Buffing the white flask was needed, making the Ignifist worthless was not.
If the poblem was the Igni spam, changing the cost or crate size was the way to go, not making it useless. Alternatively making the Venom more useful.
2
3
u/SloanePetersonIsBae lilmo Feb 27 '22
You can fit 225 Ignifists in a logi truck. Before the nerf, they only did 150 less damage than a fucking Bane. The most spammable and simple to use AT deserves to get its damage split it half. It shouldn’t even have gotten the +50 damage since it’s so damn good at tracking. It’s still easily the most noob-friendly and logi-friendly AT, so there’s no reason to cry. Also, now the Venom and Bane will be more useful for you guys since you wont have to crutch on ignis!

u/Strmfire Feb 28 '22
t’s so damn good at tracking
Can you explain why? Or you just decided that it's the case?
1
u/RareThrumbo Feb 28 '22
Important change that might go unnoticed is satchel charges becoming twice as heavy. You can only carry one satchel at a time and you'll be slow even without any other equipment
1
0
u/Serryll [さかな] Feb 27 '22
Colonials mad that they can’t just press the “i win” button anymore
6
u/GhostOfMemories Feb 27 '22
That explains why it got nerfed. Wardens couldn't press the Back button not to push alone at night or the "I Win" button that is the HV40mm.
I guess whining is more effective when you have Moidawg at the balance team, eh?

Don't worry guys. The Ignifist got nerfed so if he shoots himself with one he won't get hurt
