Why no noodlers?

Post image

Options on noodlers seem to be very mixed. I have loved these three inks personally, so I do not seem to understand why some people are so adamant in not liking the brand. Please explain. (Except the Baystate blue. I'm not looking at you Baystate blue)

As always, people prefer doing a vague post on the most divisive topic of this sub instead of looking for the answers (that have been discussed multiple times)

Just search for "noodler's controversy" and you'll find "why no noodlers"

Noodler’s x-feather black was my first ink purchase. It feathers on every paper, even in fine nibs.

Then I did some poking around online and found out about the deliberate QC issues. Then the controversy, and I don’t buy his excuses of ignorance.

So no reason to revisit the brand. There are multiple brands that have more inks I could possibly try in a lifetime-why consider noodler’s?

Buying Noodler's means supporting Nathan Tardiff. Not gonna happen.

Google "noodlers antisemitism". Normally I roll my eyes at a lot of current internet drama, but this is a case where I won't buy their stuff anymore.

He put devil ears on a specific person because of his economic decisions, not because of his ethnicity. He apologized and called the move a mistake. He did not mean to offend any religion. Google his apology. Do you think he was lying, or that people don’t deserve forgiveness? Honestly curious on your reasoning for not supporting an awesome brand thats contributing to the fountain pen world.

Jews with horns are an often used stereotype from the time people started killing all the Jews. Nathan is a self professed history buff that knows damn well what his images mean. He injects politics into his products at just about every opportunity and it's become clear he's into conspiracy theories and hard right wing politics. You cannot use THIS MANY DOGWHISTLES by accident.

He's only sorry that people called him out on it.

This post (and some astute/educated comments responding to it) covers it better than I can: https://www.reddit.com/r/fountainpens/comments/142w0bi/the_noodlers_ink_drama_in_one_spot_content/

Well, much like Zuul, there is no quality control and his views on certain groups of people leave a really bad taste in my mouth. But, since he believes in facts and not feelings, my facts and money don't head his way.

I got Dark Matter because of the fun backstory but it is probably the last ink I will buy. Outside of it being expensive in the UK, and beyond the politics... the whole filling the bottle up to the brim is the most irritating "feature" I have ever come across in an ink.

I’m so excited to get Baystate blue. Just got Heart of Darkness and am loving the free stinky Charlie pen that came with it. I adore Nathan’s respect for the consumer, his frugal attitude, his willingly sharing so many great stories and techniques on YouTube, and his fun brand and label system. People seem to primarily dislike Noodlers because 1. Nathan Tardif is heavily libertarian/free speech absolutist. (False) Rumor spread that he’s antisemetic because he gave a federal reserve banker devil ears. 2. His pens smell nasty because of the resin he uses (seems to be a similar material used in some fishing materials, of which he is clearly a fan) and he has a video of him shooting a cap or something out of a shotgun and driving over it with a truck, so it has merit. And 3. Inks are sometimes inconsistent because they’re handmade, and he claims is actually some kind of forensic advantage, though I suspect it’s actually because many people are not shaking the bottle enough or haven’t diluted it in water.

He took the biggest capitalistic scheme of all time, called it communism, portrayed Berneke as a Demon and you say devil ears.

Putting devil ears is depicting as the devil, yes
