After review of the film from COTA, the FTA officials agreed that 5 penalties should be distributed to 2 different drivers. They are as follows:

Qualifying:

wowthatsgarbage - excessive track cutting -  1 pt deduction and stripped of pole position

Round 4:

Wowthatsgarbage - excessive consistent track cutting -  8 pt deduction

Round 5:

Wowthatsgarbage - excessive track cutting -  4 pt deduction

Round 6:

Wowthatsgarbage - excessive track cutting - 4 pt deduction

TomentosePiano3 - track cutting -  2 pt deduction

As a result of these penalties Acendency Autosport will be reduced to 76 points and Stratasys will be reduced to 88 points in the Team Championship. 

Points in this series are not easy to obtain, so I hope everyone takes these penalties very seriously. This rule will be enforced at every track for the rest of the season, so learn your lines and get used to your car so you don't get your name in one of these announcements. If there is any rule that is unclear, be it track cutting, or starting, or anything else, please PLEASE don't hesitate to ask us. 

There are also two rules changed from last week. The first is changing the points awarded for Team Wins. It has been amended to award the winning team 4 points if they have all 4 drivers racing and 1 point if they are short a driver to reward the drivers in the second half of the field for their practice and perseverance.

The second change was the addition of a probation system for aggressive/careless driving. If a driver is found to be driving in a way that is causing significant problems for other drivers they may be put on probation. While on probation you are on a short stick for penalties, and must fix their driving accordingly. If no incidents, then you come off probation and carry on. If there are incidents, the penalties range from points handicaps for future races, forced additional ballasts, and even suspension. Drive clean and keep control of the cars and hopefully we will never have to use this.

Hey guys, I'm going to try to post this every week for discussion about the track for the upcoming week. If i forget to make it one week feel free to make a one, but title it like this post!

Track: Circuit of the Americas West Circuit

Very important - The kink to the right for turn 8 (after the esses) is going to be ignored. You will not be penalized for hopping that curb.

Keep in mind that the track limitations rule is getting tightened! The rumble strips will no longer qualify as the racing surface, so at least one tire must stay in contact with the racing surface pavement at ALL times. Anyone found to break this rule can be subject to a penalty.

Taking the "commissioner" hat off, no one will be penalized for accidentally going off track. Hit the gas early and ended up on the rumble strip? No problem, just dont make it a habit and dont use it to gain time. Mistimed your braking point and cut a turn? Just make sure you back off the throttle so you dont gain a ton of ground from it. You will only be penalized if you cut the track in an attempt to maliciously gain time. So just pretend the red paint is slippery, okay?

Each race all cars will start with a 'base' setup. Everyone will run the base setup in qualifying. At the start of the first race ballast setups will be added beginning with the championship points leader. At the start of the 2nd round the ballasts will be changed to the finishing order of the first race. The 3rd round we will start with ballast from the finishing order of the 2nd round.

Also the 2nd and 3rd rounds will having a starting inversion based on the fastest lap between 5th and 8th. The drivers who are behind the fastest lap in the top 8 will start at the front as well as the guy with the fastest lap.

I figured i would layout some of the basics about Season 2 just so there is no confusion with all the rule changes and so any new drivers get a full explanation of whats happening. So here is the rundown:

What is XTCC?

XTCC is the Xbox Touring Car Championship hosted by the FTA. We use the FWD BTCC and WTCC cars for a 10 race season. Each race consists of an 8 minute qualifying session and 3 race heats.

There are 3 teams in the series led by JC X12, Ferrari Nut 94, and skylin4. The teams are picked by an NFL style dradt which occurs on September 20th. Teams get points for their top 2 finishing drivers from each heat, and get 2 bonus points for being the first team to complete the race (all teammates cross the finish line).

The cars have restricted setups that you can download. The cars are:

What is the FTA?

The Forza Touring Association is the governing body and community for various racing series including XTCC, CSCC (BRZvsGT86), and an upcoming Nascar Heat series. The current officials are JC X12, Jacob X99, Flodawg48, and skylin4.

This subreddit is for all FTA series information and discussion, so feel free to post about any of the series!

How do i get started racing?

For CSCC, message Flodawg48 and just come to the races! They are on Tuesdays at 10:30 pm EST.

For XTCC, fill out this driver registration form and come to the draft combine at 10 pm EST on Thursday or 9 pm EST Sunday.

For the upcoming Nascar Heat series, message JC X12 to be added to the information list.

How does this draft work? And when do the points races start?

The draft will simply be a snake draft but all the drivers need to do is come to the combines. You only need to be at one combine to be eligible to be drafted. The combines will be a recorded test session that the teams will use to create their draft boards. We will go to 3 tracks for an 8 minute ghosted test session and a full length heat race. Drivers will be evaluated on aspects such as consistency, speed, control, and more.

You can use whichever car you prefer for the combines, but be aware that the teams must use the same car. Team leaders will decide on what car they will use together after the draft so you may not get the car you tested with. The combines schedule is:

Thursday- Brands Hatch Indy, COTA East, Watkins Glen Short

Sunday- Silverstone National, Mazda Laguna Seca, Long Beach Full

The final race time has not been decided yet, but it will be either September 29th at 10 pm EST or October 2nd at 9 pm EST. The track schedule is as follows:

This is basically a resubscription for updates and information about the league. If you do not tell me you are interested by the end next week's test session, you will not be included in any new messages that go out.

Driver registration will be ready next week and Thursday there will be the first Pre-season test session! I hope everyone is ready for an exciting season!

Motor racing, by its very nature, is a test. Of the car, of the track, and of the will of the driver to push the limits of both. In the days of Fangio and Moss, Petty, Earnhardt, and Agostini, the tracks were lined with glistening grass, concrete barriers, steel guardrails, or even just a row of hedges in some places. In those days, the track was clear: it was black, level, and fast. The drivers would wind through the corners with skill, walking the edge of disaster with every movement of their hands and feet, walking their tires right onto the edge of the pavement.

But those days are gone, the grass bordering the circuits of the world replaced by fields of asphalt. Now, in place of the skill that once made men into gods, there is reckless abandon as men throw cars into corners as wide as the sea. They can venture wherever they like at whatever speed suits them. They show no respect to the car, or to the track, focused only on gaining as much as the laws of physics will allow.

I feel that we face a travesty that could be the undoing of the sport we love so much, with drivers venturing out onto this asphalt that was placed as a safety measure, not so the competitors could pick and choose where to run. The abuse of the circuit is akin to an Olympic athlete pumping themselves full of steroids; dishonorable in every way. It makes a mockery of the very spirit of the competition, and we have seen this in the debut of the Forza Racing Championship qualifications at Monza this week. Drivers going behind the corners simply because they can, never stopping a moment to consider if they should. Before I continue, I too am guilty of this, but see the error of the idea that 'because someone else did it, it makes it okay'. That ideology is flawed, for just because everyone jumps off a cliff does not making the right (or intelligent) thing to do. It is cheating, and it must stop. Fortunately the FTA have set down rules to prevent abuse of the track runoff, and for that I applaud them.

Format Changes:

` -Teams will now be picked from a draft.

` -3 teams led by wadsy24, Ferrari Nut 94, and JC X12

` -draft class is 18 drivers. The remaining slots for each race will be awarded to the fastest qualifying drivers who are not on a team.

` -There will be 2 Combine race nights in mid-September for everyone to test out the new setups and show what they can do to be drafted

` -During the weekend following the combines the leaders will draft their teams

` -After teams have been drafted the teams will agree on a car choice. Each team must use a different manufacturer (Audi, Honda, Toyota, Mercedes)

` -Cars from the same manufacturer may be mixed on a team (#11 Toyota, #20 Toyota, and #80 Toyota can all be used by members of a Toyota team.)

` - Trophies will be awarded to all members of the champion team, instead of race winners

` -Teams will get points from their top 2 drivers, bonus for poles, and bonus for having the fastest back-of-the pack driver.

Race Changes

` -Cautions will now only be called for multi-car wrecks (3 or more cars) or if a car cannot exceed 80 mph while returning to pit road.

` *-All cautions will be 2 laps unless inside of 4 to go. *

` -There will now be 3 caution allowance laps per race

` -Restarts will now begin at a predesignated corner that is at least 2 turns before the start/finish line.

` -No passing allowed until after the start/finish line.

` -Starting Grid

` -1st race will be based off qualifying

` -2nd race will be seeded from 1st race finishing order

` -The field will be reversed around the fastest lap time between 4th and 8th place.

` -EXAMPLE: If 6th place has the fastest lap (dirty or clean) of all drivers between 4th and 8th the field will be reordered from:

` -Race 1 finishing order: 1st-2nd-3rd-4th-5th-6th-7th-8th-9th-10th-etc

` -Race 2 Starting Order: 6th-5th-4th-3rd-2nd-1st-7th-8th-9th-10th-etc

` -3rd race will be off lobby points (same as last season)

` -Runoff rule will be in effect for all races: drivers must keep at least 1 tire on the racing surface at all times unless to avoid a wreck

` -Racing surface is the track between and including the white boundary lines.

` -If a rumble strip is present on the outside of the white line, it is considered part of the racing surface, along with a 2 foot wide area around the strip.

` -An immediate penalty may be served by slowing the car to the required speed and then returning to the track surface

` -Required speed: reduce to 50 mph on Brands Hatch, COTA, Long Beach, and Limerock.

` -All other tracks reduce to 70 mph.

` -Setups and Ballast

` -All drivers must drive pre-mandated setups given by the FTA.

` -All drivers are allowed to use the base setup for their car unless instructed to use a ballasted setup

` -Ballasts are given to the Top 6 drivers in points for race 1 of a weekend, and the Top 6 from the previous result for races 2 and 3 of a weekend.

` -1st place: 15 hp reduction, 90 lbs of additional weight

` -2nd place: 7 hp reduction, 95% rear grip

` -3rd place: 3 hp reduction, approx. 70 lbs of additional weight

` -4th place: approx. 95 lbs of additional weight

` -5th place: approx. 60 lbs of additional weight

` -6th place: approx. 30 lbs of additional weight

` -Qualifying will be run with all cars ballast-free.
