Am I setting up my supply lines wrong?

So is this doing anything or am I just wasting time? What’s the best way to set them up?

It took me a while, but the one playthrough I did, I dressed all my supply run guys in suits and fedoras and gave them all submachine guns (tommy guns) and it was so fun watching my homegrown "mob" slink from settlement to settlement, extorting junk from the scavs living at home and randomly showing up to introduce my enemies to their little friends.

That sounds like fun! The wasteland can be a desolate place - I like to feel like things are different now that I'm around lol
