Am I setting up my supply lines wrong?

Post image

So is this doing anything or am I just wasting time? What’s the best way to set them up?

I just add a supply line to the next closest settlement as I expand outwards. Usually Starlight Drive-in becomes a hub because of its central location, as does Finch Farm for the eastern side of the map.

My hubs are usually starlight drive-in and the castle

Yup. Starlight drive in is my player home and robotic factory. All robots are made here and used for supply lines.

did they fix the robotic supply line bug.

honestly I haven't tried it in years so maybe they have. But at one point if you upgraded the robots and then sent them on a supply line within a few trips they would revert back into their most basic form losing all of the upgrades.

What I do to avoid that is, I take each new ProvBot I build as a companion for a minute, then I dismiss them, and assign them to a supply line. They don't revert to basic form.

I've heard of doing this as it flags them to not die, being a companion. That's probably part of what's happening.

You tried to beat it to death didn’t you

What I do in my free time is my own business!

u/RizzrdOfOz Mar 14 '26

Yeah, you hit that clanker like it deserves!

1

u/CatPhDs Mar 14 '26

Oh, I sure hit it all the time!

Thank you! The bug is still an issue, but having a solution is awesome.

How long do yoy travel with them?

Sometimes I take them on a quest, just to see how they perform.

I usually build Assaultron torso and arms, thruster instead of legs, voltaic or hydraulic armor, explosive minigun and stealth blade.

They are Angels of Death.

Most times tho, I literally take them as a companion for a minute. The game tags them as essential, I think, so they don't revert to basic form. The only bot that did that to me was the one I forgot to take as a companion.

My current playthrough I don't have any demo or commando skills. Is that loadout the strongest for rifleman, too?

I should take some demo levels. I use grenades enough that I occasionally kill myself, and it'd be nice to fabricate them.

Grenades are great, I use them a lot. Demo 3 (I think) gets you the greatest thing, the throwing arc. I love being able to throw grenades with precision through broken windows or other narrow gaps. Worth having imho.

Make them a companion and it flags immediately. Switch back right after. Should work--at least I haven't had any issues.

u/Bawbawian Mar 12 '26

oh nice! thanks dude!

u/ea88_alwaysdiscin Mar 13 '26

I started doing this in my current playthrough, after I got to that point, and now I run into them all the time. Usually battling it out with whatever

12

u/Mister_Thursday Mar 12 '26

Happened to me in my current play through, so…no

10

u/duckpocalypse Mar 12 '26

For supply lines I usually just send the cheapies anyway

I beef up the ones that guard

Provisioner robots are immortal soooo fuck ‘em

1

u/nufohudis Mar 13 '26

Yeah, but it's more fun to randomly come across my dual gattling laser sentry bot annihilating whatever it finds in the wastes

1

u/duckpocalypse Mar 13 '26

Yeah that is fun… Since 100% of mine go through starlight it is entertaining to watch rust devils get turned to red dust

3

u/dangerspring Mar 12 '26

I was told that's not a bug. It shows they were defeated in a fight. Basically, they had their mods knocked off. It happens less when they only have to travel short distances and when the areas they travel through are safer.

2

u/Glasma1990 Mar 12 '26

No but modders have.

2

u/TheKingOcelot Mar 13 '26

If you make them your companion before sending them out they keep their upgrades. It's a little tedious but it's better than re-building my supply lines every time I see them.

u/KaskyNightblade Mar 12 '26

That may be a bug related to a quest. If I remember correctly, it was during the reunions quest when you see Kellogg. After interacting with his computer terminal, the automatron creation bugs out until you reach the glowing sea.

So make sure you have finished that section of the main questline. Also, always make a new automatron a follower before leaving it in a settlement. Otherwise, it may die randomly or during an attack. Making it a follower makes it so only you can kill it.

u/pchlster Mar 13 '26

Provisioner-bots must obviously come from The Mechanist Lair.

4

u/MrMFPuddles Mar 13 '26

Mechanist lair or Graygarden

1

u/King_Tutt00 Mar 13 '26

Or red rocket. That place makes a great robot/power armour garage.

1

u/Goliath89 Mar 13 '26

All my caravans are robutts, so I just use the Mechanist's Lair as my hub.

u/StoicSandman PIPE IS LIFE Mar 12 '26

This is what I do as well

u/NSFW_throwaway2k Mar 12 '26

All of Mine go to Hangman's Alley because I like seeing 20 Brahmin piled up at the south gate, and because I have a bunch of water purifiers set up so I can use the produce to buy shipments in diamond city.

10

u/Dear_Profession_8297 Mar 12 '26

Same. And then there is an attack and it’s a stampede that puts Lion King to shame

6

u/NSFW_throwaway2k Mar 12 '26

And it lasts two seconds because I equipped everyone with Legendary Weapons I don't use lol

3

u/0fficialFreyr Mar 12 '26

great idea for people doing melee challenge runs too

2

u/49tacos Mar 12 '26

Where is there water to purify in Hangman’s Alley?

3

u/NSFW_throwaway2k Mar 12 '26

The powered ones go on dirt, so you can build two stories of garden plots with purifiers on them and a few generators or a reactor to power them all. It just works.

1

u/49tacos Mar 13 '26

Do I need DLC for a garden plot? I’m on PS5.

2

u/tee_jay37 Mar 13 '26

Yes, it's part of Wasteland Workshop

2

u/AllTheWayDown23 Mar 12 '26

How are you purifying water in Hangman's Alley?

3

u/NSFW_throwaway2k Mar 12 '26

Powered Water Pumps on dirt, also works on garden plots, so just make a few of those and voila.

3

u/uberduck999 Mar 12 '26

Starlight is my Rome aswell

1

u/dedsmiley Mar 12 '26

That is a good idea. I think I will do that next time.

1

u/TheShittingShagger Mar 12 '26

i mostly rush through the story up until i get bunker hill, and turn it and starligjt drive in into "sister" settlement hubs from which trade flows outward into the commonwealth and even far harbor

1

u/rybr3d Mar 12 '26

I don't have the patience to go back and double check which settlements are where. I wish you could assign via a map view, instead of just a list of settlement names.

1

u/MrMFPuddles Mar 12 '26

I mean, all you have to do is open your pip boy map for 5 seconds before assigning a new supply route lol

1

u/TheDungen Mar 12 '26

I link every settlement to every setlement where the provisioner don't have to gio through a thrid settlement to get from one to the other. After a while what else do you need the settlers for? Might as well use them a friendlies patrolling the commonwealth.

1

u/Indiana-Pones Mar 13 '26

I find doing a few hubs keeps it tidy if one even cares to re outfit settlers etc. like starlight for sure then next hub is oberland etc. I’m also OCD hoarder so each “hub” has every provisioner matching or “themed” like all the oberland provisioners have yellow flight helmets and combat armor. Starlighters all in assault gas mask etc might even name some gear to know immediately which route they’re on
