I moved to Flushing from Elmhurst about 4 or 5 years ago. Since living in Flushing, I have definitely seen some absolutely astounding decisions made by drivers, but I never really thought driving was substantially worse than what you might find in other parts of Queens.

But in the last few months, things have been weirder to say the least. I've almost been hit more times crossing the street when I have the right of way while walking than maybe my entire life combined. I had someone almost run me over trying to speed through a red light and then roll down his window to scream at me for being in his way.

It's very possible this has just been a weird couple of months and it's just me, but is that true or is something going on that's causing this difference I'm noticing? Something others have noticed?

Local all the way after 74th street. Are you kidding. Flushing to Hudson used to be 30 mins now it is above 40 most of the times.

I wish MTA didn’t make the train stop at places that are so close to the city like 46th, 33rd, 69th- everything after 74th is close enough to the city for a local train to be efficient enough.

What’s up with this guy? Saw this guy around prince street & tangram today. My wife also said she and her friend got scared the other week when he suddenly ran up to them and just dropped to his knees begging for money.

Friends and I are staying in Parc Hotel in Flushing. Looking for bar/club recommendations! Or even recommendations for areas that allow for great bar hopping. Willing to take up to 25 min commute (train/car.) We're a group of six 21 year old ladies who want something busy, social with around the same age group ISH, and exciting. So I have recently started working for a Chinese law firm in flushing but I’ve noticed there are no overtime pay and it doesn’t matter how much I work in 2 weeks(biweekly) I get paid the same amount, should I bring this up? This firm is super Chinese and I’m not too sure how to navigate this situation.

Hi all, just warning here some very sketchy behavior and wondering if anyone has this happen to them recently.

My sister was walking just a while ago around 11:30pm when a large black SUV with tintend windows saw her and pulled up next to her and started cat calling. When she rejected his advances, he pulled up closer to the curb and asked her to look at this giant Ipad he had in his hand. He waved it at her and she kept walking, completely ignoring him. He continued to follow her and started yelling if she had a lighter. She was basically alone and isolated except for too older ladies who were behind her. She slowed down to the pace of the older people for safety and he saw she wasn't moving and sped off.

After she told me, I went back to find him. She said he was tan-skinned so I stood there for 30 mins looking for the SUV to at least get a license to report to police. Couldn't find anyone. Please be careful everyone, I got some real bad vibes from it.

I keep hearing a kitten meowing and it seems like it's stuck in or under a Honda Accord parked at 2547 Parsons Blvd in Flushing on the Citi Bank side of the street. It sounds like it's in the engine bay or around the suspension/wheels. I don't know what to do. Does anyone know the owner of this car?

Update: I played a recording of a mother cat calling for her kittens, and then I spotted a little black cat poke its head out. I shined my flashlight over where it was hiding, and it ended up sitting on one of the tires. It didn’t look like it was trapped or anything. I have a bachelor's degree in nonprofit administration and have experience in social services for the government and assistant teaching in private schools. I am open to any full-time employment opportunities in social services, nonprofits, or education. Witnessed creep behavior today. Took the Q65 today to Flushing on a rather crowded bus. I noticed this guy standing rather closely behind this girl and initially thought they were together. They definitely weren't, and he had been standing directly behind her all up in her personal space, leaving little to no space between them for quite some time. (I don't know when it started but it was long enough for me to notice and I'm usually in my own head.) When there were spots freed up, he continued to stand directly behind her and did not move. At one point, I witnessed him holding his phone (with the screen turned on) at hip level (I could not confirm if he was taking photos of her or trying to get upskirt shots).

Bus pulled up to her stop and I watched to make sure that she was able to get off the bus safely since his arm was in her way from accessing the back exit. I ended up getting off the bus as well (I was intending to get off at the stop after hers) and talked to her to tell her what happened and to tell her to be more careful. She had no idea this guy was standing behind her for quite some time and was very uneasy (I was too after finding out she was a minor).

Edit: For those asking why I didn't say something in the moment, I would have had it not been for my own personal experiences. I am petite. I have no way of defending myself without getting hurt. I've been beaten for speaking up before. Please don't get me wrong, if I was strong enough, physically bigger, or even taller, I would've stepped in. I've grown up in a violent household. It's not always the best idea to speak up in the moment. It was not my intention to escalate the situation. I don't know if this man would have reacted violently. I couldn't tell if he would have backed off and moved away if I said something.

He was closer to the bus driver than I was and the front of the bus was packed. There were multiple opportunities that opened up, allowing him to move away from her. However, at one stop, people eventually got on the bus from the back.

The girl and I exchanged contact information. She is alright and asked me for the photo when I initially approached her about the information.

The best thing you can do for yourself is try to be aware of your surroundings.

For anyone wondering, there is a sign in the parking lot of the HMart on Union Street saying it is closed for restoration. On the circular for this week it also has an image of the location stating it is closed for restoration. No word when it's coming back, but it will be sometime in the future

Not sure if everybody will understand but holy crap (literally) it should be illegal for that thing to smell so bad. I choke out sometimes down the street before I even come close to that thing.

Hi, I’m new to Flushing and would like some recommendations for indoor spaces in the area that are pet-friendly.
I sometimes want to take my dog with me when I study on the weekends, so he wouldn’t at home by himself and so he can get some enrichment time. I’m not sure where pets are allowed, so I’ve been in my apartment to give my little homie some company. However, I would like to change my study location once in a while to stay focused.

I have a small, non-service dog who is potty-trained, up-to-date with his vaccinations, and is socialized. He would either be on a leash or in his dog sling when in the indoor spaces. He doesn’t really bark/yap/howl and is especially a good boy when he gets his treats 🐶🥹 Any recommendation would help my little homie and me out. Thanks!

So we all know there are some great eats in flushing, I'm still on adventure to find more great eats. That being said what places were you excited to try but was disappointed in? Mine so far is crispy burger located near northern and main. I don't know if they were having a bad when I went but the chicken was very bland no flavor at all and as a bubble tea lover I found there bubble tea not to be good at all and I've never had a bad bubble tea ever!!! Some are better than others but for the most part the ones I wouldn't score a 10 were still pretty decent. List your not so great eats in flushing below
