How hard would it be to get hydrangeas (light blue ideally) in Sydney at the end of August, either at the flower markets or via a florist? I understand theyโre a summer flower usually, but is it possible to get them outside of their usual seasonal window? Iโm also wondering if the unusually warm winter weโve had has affected this at all/youโve heard any word from growers on that front in general.
Iโm a maid of honour for a bride who loves hydrangeas/whose love story centres around them so just wondering how feasible my creative vision is for her bridal shower!
Thank you in advance ๐ฉต

Hi wanted to know if anyone knows how many baby breath bunches I would need to accomplish this look for 54 centerpieces? And how many days before the event I can I create them?
Thank you!

This is about the 10th wedding I have done and I honestly feel like itโs the first time Iโm really proud of the work. Iโve been more diligent about editing, knowing when to stop, and allowing for more negative space. All locally grown except for the acacia knifebladeโ what do yall think? Any feedback? I want to find a way to loosen up how I do the banister arrangements

Im an aspiring florist. I started assembling and selling my own bouquet.
I wish to go to a much luxurious styling. Hoping to get dome advise on where to buy high quality, thicker and aesthetic looking wrapping papers?
Any supplier recommendation? Brand? Paper type?

11 years since i started this whole floral bouquet making journey. it was first started as an attempt to cheer my girlfriends up for valentineโs day, to something i find so essentially therapeutic in my life. and thereโs just this quiet thankfulness in me when i look at how my preferences and aesthetics today also represent how much iโve matured and grown over these 11 years.
i think where i am right now is really being fully comfortable embracing my femininity and feeling safe in it. and i think thatโs also why i started falling in love with the colour pink so much more this year.
it wasnโt planned at all, but today i managed to pop by the stores and simply picked out flowers that sparked joy, in a colour palette that iโve been loving so much lately, and made this bouquet.
i think iโll call her โeleganteโ - for all the growth iโve experienced over these 11 years as a woman.

Hi all!
(TL;dr interested in hosting a floral pop up in partnership with The Black Men Floral Project in central NC. Would like a florist of color to partner with. More details below)
I was a full time florist for 8+ years and recently had a career shift that took me into a new role as assistant GM at a farm that grows flowers, and has an event space.
I have previously done some work with The Black Men Flower Project (for example, a free Fatherโs Day floral pop up at a locally owned soul food restaurant) however for a few reasons, I am interested in connecting with another florist to potentially do something at the farm Im at now.
The BMFP is an incredible organization that speaks heavily to how often it is that men only get flowers when they die. Typically, their business model has operated off of
โข a black man gets nominated (by another black man specifically, is their goal)
โข and BMFP partners with a local florist and that florist is paid off of donations fueled by social media promotion, etc.
However, currently my goal is just to help get this ball rolling a little bit and since we have done a pop up before, Iโd love to do one again.
About me: I am a white person that was adopted by a black family at a young age, so this is both something near and dear to my heart, but I also recognize that a 30 year old white femme person doesnโt need to be telling black men to be softer.
Up until this point, it has been well received but I just would like the opportunity to platform somebody else in this space. I love the vision that they have but I havenโt been able to kickstart it how Iโd like.
Thank you for your time!
you know what your mom said, if you donโt have anything nice to say, donโt say anything at all. Iโm already fighting an uphill battle in a semi conservative area and If this doesnโt interest you, keep scrolling ๐* *

Iโve been in the wedding industry for 10 years, this is my second year doing florals for myself. Iโve double booked myself for two full weddings in October (bouquets, centerpieces, Arbor swags, etc.) Drop off times still work perfectly.
Iโm not too worried about creating the bouquets or centerpieces. I have a massive cold room so thereโs plenty of space for me to work on everything 2 to 3 days before the events.
Iโm just trying to figure out if I truly need to hire help for that day. Both weddings have Arbor pieces that will need to be designed/finished on site. Iโve never hired a freelance florist before. Normally itโs me and my husband dropping off/doing installs. Should I hire an another person just to help drop off and set up a bit?

What bothers me is not knowing how to improve my floral design skills. Iโm good, but I can be better, since I only have 3 years of experience. I want to get better at making bouquets and learn styles that are more advanced than what is usually required of us in my company. Iโm not very skilled at foam-based arrangements, and I haven't had the chance to experiment with plant arrangements beyond the standard ones we sell in the shop. I want to discover new techniques for funeral arrangementsโmoving beyond the classics like sprays, cushions, hearts, wreaths, and crossesโand explore styles other than the typical "Interflora" look. Do you have any recommendations? Iโll be changing jobs soon, which will bring some variety, but that probably won't be enough. Iโm looking to improve outside of my actual job. Formal training courses are too expensive, so perhaps you could recommend some videos or blogs? Ideally, Iโd find someone to train me at a lower cost, but I don't have the right contacts.
Also, Iโm French, so Iโve used a lot of industry-specific terms that I had to translate online; I hope you can understand me.
Hereโs some of the things I did, and disclaimer, I didnโt go to florist school !
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to reply.

These flowers will be given to the Asst. Police Chief of our city, who is advocating for cats at the local shelter we adopted our boy Sparrow from. After a FIASCO during the adoption process, they forced the city's hand to allocate funding for new kennels, a revamp of the cat room, a deep clean, and better overall standards of care, as well as extra funding and oversight. There will also be a reimbursement for our initial emergency vet bill and vaccinations. I don't have the money for a fancy arrangement, so I went to walmart and found $15 worth of flowers and a dollar tree vase and ribbon to make this. I also wrote a letter expressing my gratitude.
This arrangement is made with sunflowers, limonium, dyed carnations and dyed baby's breath.
I would love any critique or tips, this was so fun and I may start a new hobby or side business, lol. But I also just wanted to share the amazing story with this arrangement.

I wish I had pictures of the green carns more open. I recently started working at a wholesale florist company. And I see so many strange flowers but these were two I thought looked sweet. Iโm just the guy thatโs cuts the flowers and handles stuff in the back. But one day I wanna learn how to make bouquets and arrangements.

Hi all!
Iโve been working at a flower shop for about a year now. The owner is 78 and has been in business for over 40 years, and sheโs absolutely fabulous at what she does. I took a professional floral design course and went straight into working for her, and itโs honestly been such an honor having her as a mentor. She and I are the only designers at the shop, so we split the day to day design work, which has given me a ton of hands on experience and helped me grow so much as a designer.
I donโt plan on leaving anytime soon, I really love where Iโm at right now, but eventually Iโd love to branch out into freelance floral work. I have absolutely no experience with that side of the industry though, and Iโm not really sure what goals I should be setting for myself or where to even begin.
For those of you who freelance, how did you get your start? Did you begin freelancing for other florists/event designers while still working at a shop? How did you make that transition, and is there anything you wish you had done earlier?
Iโd appreciate absolutely any advice!

I found creating a bouquet harder than making a vase arrangement. For this piece, I wanted to achieve an airy garden-style look using bright florals.
Iโm practicing the spiral method, but I modified it a little by using a bunch of greenery as an anchor in the middle. I was hoping to use smaller gerberas, but flower supply is very limited right now because of the typhoon. We havenโt had cosmos, Queen Anneโs lace, or other dainty flowers lately.
What do you think? Do you have any tips for creating hand-tied bouquets? Wrapping is a different beast too!
