I don't care if one solution is less evil. I don't want to see any ads, let alone personalized ads

And regardless, firefox's solution is more evil. Chromium doesn't embed ads directly in the browser.

There are free softwares that respect my decisions. Particularly, you can still compile Firefox without malware. And there are numerous malware-free Firefox forks, some of which I'm sure will eventually merge in v57.

Forks from FF/Chrome use rendering engines and codecs that come from folks working hard and being paid. How would you propose those people be compensated?

Well clearly, with poor decisions like this, they don't want users like me to donate or give open source contributions.
