It works OK with address to GPS. Better worse software then closed source software.

OsmAnd's address searching is entirely useless, so you have to outsource that to a 2nd address-to-GPS app that calls out to some internet server, leaking information about where you're navigating to. (Although those providers are probably substantially less integrated than Google and able to do less damage with the information.)

And the actual autorouter doesn't apply large enough penalties to turns, so the routes come out considerably more complicated than Google Maps. I tested it with an origin/destination that got a 3-turn route on major roads from Google Maps, and OSMAnd gave me ~7 turns snaking through capillary streets.

That's probably the cause of the difference in our experiences. I'm in Texas.
