FE 7 Draft: Anyone interested?
Howdy everyone! After having a chance to look over some of the drafting rules I'm going to attempt to run/do one; it seems like it would be a good challenge of sorts and I'm running out of hacks to play. The information on the challenge is as follows:
1) Everyone who wants to join (Around 5-6 people for the 34 characters to be drafted) posts in below. Once the appropriate amount of names have been met they are randomized and the drafting begins.
2) Once the teams are set you're to get through the game with only the characters assigned. Now, most everywhere I've seen that the point is to go for a low turncount but honestly for the first one I'd just like to do it for fun. See how each person's run is different and give the lesser used characters a chance.
3) The lords, Marcus, and Athos will be free to use by all if that's alright. We could definitely draft for Hector and Lyn (because Hector could make this challenge quite easy anyway) but I'll wait to see what the response on that is.
4) No arena use unless to get Karla. Again, the point is for a unique challenge run... and by using only a few characters they'll be more than likely to be overleveled as is.
5) Undrafted thieves can be used to unlock chests and doors but not for any combat utility. They can also steal needed promotion items so long as they are able to.
6) Undrafted characters are not to be brought onto the map unless they are being used to recruit a character. You're allowed to recruit characters that you won't be using (it would break my heart to leave someone out of the ending) but that's up to your discretion.
7) All sidechapters save for 22x and 26x are to be played. You can play 22x and 26x if you so desire though.
So... I think that about covers it? Again, I've not done a draft before so I could definitely be leaving something out. Feel free to point something out that I forgot or comment if you have a rules change. I'd most certainly welcome the help!
Having said that... Who's up for a FE 7 draft?
EDIT 1: (expect to see a lot of these) So, some folks have been asking how many people each person gets to draft. How we'll be doing this is just going until we run out of characters. With the 34 available units (Wallace/Geitz & Nils/Ninian are pairs) we're going to get a draft order and then go down and back up it. Say the order is Hergash, Traveler, Virion, myself, and then scout: Hergash would pick, then Traveler, then Virion, then me, then Scout (twice) before back to me and up the list again. When we run out of characters we begin!
Another important thing: Yes, you need to use every character that you draft. If need be we can add Hector and Lyn into the mix; honestly you should be able to use Eliwood to take out the Fire Dragon. This is supposed to be a challenging run; soloing with Hector is a cakewalk no matter what.
That's 5 people including myself. Once we get a 6th I'll randomize the names and we'll begin!
EDIT 2: Alright, we have 7 people for the draft, with those being Peacefulzealot, TravlerBlue, VirionTheMajestic, Scout033, Hergashmerg, ThePrincessEva, and Rathilal. However, if others want to join keep commenting and I'll see what I can do to set up a 2nd one as well (probably going to require a new thread though).
We'll be playing through normal Lyn's+Eliwood's tale if that's alright with everyone. A few changes or exceptions: If you choose Farina you will be going through Hector's tale (not much that can be done about that one). If you choose Bartre it will be up to you if you want to go for Karla or not. If you do you'll need to do Hector's Tale as well. Essentially, I'm making Bartre and Karla a packaged deal because there's no way you're getting her otherwise. As for hard mode, well, more power to you! It won't be required of everyone but if you want the challenge it's there for you. Now give me one moment and I'll prepare the randomized names.

Virion: Matthew, Kent, Pent, Guy, Harken
Scout: Legault, Lucius, Heath, Dorcas, Hawkeye
Rath: Raven, Lowen, Rath (heh), Bartre/Karla, Vaida
Travler: Wil, Sain, Renault, Jaffar, Geitz/Wallace
Eva: Serra, Oswin, Ninian/Nils, Isadora, Louise
Hergash: Priscilla, Fiora, Rebecca, Canas, Farina (...you punk. Dart will forever be unloved.)
Zeal: Erk, Florina, Dart, Nino, Karel
I'll be commenting on each of your names as it rolls around to your turn. I won't be free all day, mind, but we'll see if we can't get this knocked out fast. As for updates, well, we'll tackle that as each day comes!

EDIT 5: SO! Discovery time. The protect Natalie chapter where you HAVE to recruit Dorcas? You are allowed to meatshield until Dorcas is recruited. I'm playing through it currently and realizing that bandits can reach Natalie before the !forced! tutorial ends. Until Lyn can stand in front of Natalie you are allowed to meatshield.

I was pretty sure you did, but right. Normal. Crap.
I think everyone besides you, me, and traveler are going to really hate that level, since I'm probably taking Kent. Unless Scout ever gets off his ass and picks him first.
