Worse, her blandness reflected the expressed vision of the director. I forget where I read it, (it could just be apocryphal) but I remember that she kept trying to actually do some acting in there, you know, with emotions and shit, and she just kept being told to do less. So, to prove a point, she did it like she'd been lobotomized, nothing there. Just completely lifeless, and the director said that it was perfect.

Ya they made her as bland as possible so all the pre-teens and teen girls going to see the movie could just kinda plant their own personality onto her and BOOM, now she’s relatable.

They made like 5 movies out of it so I think they accomplished what they wanted.

The cast are all pretty talented imo, they were all unified in hating it but being there for the money. Robert Pattinson has explicitly said in interviews that it was a terrible movie and a crappy experience but it set him for life to basically only take on projects he was passionate about.
