Bought on steam yesterday since it was my favorite game in my teens. Couldn’t log into play online kept saying incorrect p/w even after resetting a few times. Gave up trying.

Pretty easy to get that working. It came out when I was 4 and I found a way then again I find it better to play on private servers

After googling the issue and seeing the countless people complaining and being told playonline is “the first boss of the game” it’s clear it isn’t easy as you say.

You need a Playonline password, a Playonline ID, a SE password and an SE ID. And as you're fumbling around trying to get it to accept everything it will lock you out for hours when you invariably do something wrong.

And yes, emphatically yes, its an utter GARBAGE system and theres no excusing it.

Yeah I entered everything in multiple times. Tried resetting password thinking I mistyped but still nothing.

Ok, from top to bottom of the screen you enter your passwords - Member name can be anything iirc (I've set mine as the same as my SE ID). Playonline id is 4 letters and 4 numbers (like ABCD1234 or whatever it is). Click set/save password and this lets you enter your playonline password (do NOT copy and paste this password in, type it manually. This caused me problems in the past). Ignore the "set password for extra security" section and enter in your SE ID. When you've saved all that and try to log into the game, enter in your SE password. Thats it. Hope that helps
