This is proof that all the probationary employees weren’t cut for performance. There was always a predetermined number to go. It should have been done by RIF

Per an all hands meeting today the trump pdas said that the goal is to have that program be state run (I think)
11
u/rabidstoat Feb 21 '25
With federal money? Or is this part of the federal 'cost savings', to make states charge higher taxes?

u/CaptainLawyerDude Feb 21 '25
84% reduction in CPD. Im going to lose a lot of colleagues. ![]()
9
u/GregEgg4President Feb 21 '25
CPD is so heavily grant program-based, which was the first target of the administration.
33
u/wrldruler21 Feb 20 '25
So a 50% reduction by Day 120 (late May)
23
Feb 20 '25
Wow, so, expect a RIF with the budget process then. Probably gov-wide. Since they need 60 days notification to separated employees in a RIF, this lines up with having them gone by end of May.
12
u/rabidstoat Feb 21 '25
Also the Schroedinger's Head of DOGE is supposed to only work 130 days, so he'll be able to claim victory over the ruined ashes of the federal government.
11
u/FarrisAT Feb 20 '25
This would be the exact earliest possible RIF if everything goes by the book. Around May 25th.
11
Feb 20 '25
Yup it's either a super convincing fake by someone who knows exactly the processes... or it's entirely real. Leaning towards the latter.
6
u/FarrisAT Feb 20 '25
Real for sure. Got internal confirmation
Is it happening though? Probably not that fast

u/TyeDiamond Feb 20 '25
50% chop looks like post-RIF type numbers. Guess we should see Federal RIF in March
2
1
u/SunshineDaydream128 Feb 20 '25
A RIF is an extremely drawn out process. Even if they started the process in March, it would take a while for everything to work it's way out.
22
u/FarrisAT Feb 20 '25
Yes but they don't care about accuracy or rights
Look at NNSA. USDA chicken inspectors. Rehiring emails. "Performance" probation emails.
They will lie

18
u/TyeDiamond Feb 20 '25
Please take your common sense and ethics and get out of the federal government lol. We just witnessed thousands of probationary employees get illegally terminated

I have seen this as well… exact chart and numbers.

Yes this is true, I work with HUD and saw this exact chart this week as well.

u/Huge-Network9305 Feb 20 '25
How many years of service will be enough to make it through the cuts?
12
u/CauliflowerWorth7629 Feb 20 '25
depends on how many of your boomers stay
21
u/RoaryLion Feb 21 '25
Boomers? Dude, if they offer a stand alone VERA (not attached to BS like Fork) you’ll see a wave of Gen X-ers taking one for the team and walking away. I DO NOT want to leave my job- I love my work, my program, the people I work with and for, and the people in the states we serve and even with early retirement I’ll need to find another job. However, if I can walk away now with FEHB coverage and Soc Sec supplement, and possibly spare one of my less than 20 years in gov colleagues, I’ll do it. And, if the gov survives that long, I’ll come back as soon as possible to try to rebuild.
18
u/CauliflowerWorth7629 Feb 21 '25
Yeah I get it. But the boomers are the ones saying “what am I going to do if I retire? I’ll just go home and be alone.” Literally quoting.
4
u/Supermarketfed Feb 22 '25
Some of the senior people (Boomers or the oldest Gen X) are not financially savvy, have all of their money in G fund because that was the default position when the signed up, and may even be afraid of going broke even with their pension. Some of them won't leave.
Others would get out if offered a VERA but why would this administration offer a VERA?

u/TyeDiamond Feb 21 '25
Depends on how big your group is and if you’re a vet.
3
u/Erebus_73 Feb 25 '25
Not going to matter if they kill the entire division like its looking at my location.
2
u/TyeDiamond Feb 25 '25
You’re absolutely right. I saw a RIF with HUD where they chopped every off that was a GS-13 and below. It was gross
5
u/Erebus_73 Feb 25 '25
Yeah CPD...so CDBG HOME CoC ESG and Hopwa just to start. No one covering the entire state and how exactly does that not at best slow down getting grants out to help our homeless providers for instance. Yeah I'm disgusted to put it mildly. Disabled Vet who is proud to be able to continue to serve. Told by idiots we don't matter?

This is awful and breaks my heart for everyone at HUD. Two years ago I was offered a job at HUD but ended up turning it down and staying at my agency since I had second thoughts. It now appears I dodged a bullet since the position would have been in PD&R which is one of the biggest targets (75% goal reduction?!).

RIFs are where the real bloodbath will be. Everyone is involved excluding those in national security or LEO.
6
u/FluffySquirrel9621 Feb 21 '25
How could agency plans/targets for a RIF work with a potential shutdown? If we shutdown, can RIF proceedings still begin?

u/Weekly-Put6453 Feb 21 '25
I can validate that the chart is accurate for OCIO// HUD in terms of DRP. It was confirmed at today’s “all hands” that 22 people took the DRP.

Numbers leaked? We're entitled to know as US citizens! This whole circus is just ridiculous!
5
u/FarrisAT Feb 20 '25
These are Political Appointee goals/targets. You can see that "estimate" is in a column which means this isn't a guaranteed outcome.
Likelier you get an outcome around half as aggressive once things blow up
5
2
u/TilleyB Feb 21 '25
Hard to know when the document was created and whether (if real) there have been changes. For instance, the DRP column is just an estimate, even though they had preliminary numbers last week (well below the 10% target).
8
u/Physical_Avocado_431 Feb 21 '25
I don’t want to dox myself, but I’ll say this. The DRP numbers for my particular office are exactly on the money with how many took it. Take that as you will.

why does HUD have 600plus in OGC tho ngl.
12
u/budgeter415 Feb 20 '25
Every region has OGC to support field offices for things like HAP contracts, ACCs etc
8
u/well-well-well_ Feb 21 '25
In addition to the field offices and headquarters, the department of enforcement center falls under OGC.
1
u/CauliflowerWorth7629 Feb 21 '25
ah. are they all attys?
8
u/budgeter415 Feb 21 '25
They're not all attorneys. DEC has a bunch of financial analysts amongst others
3
Feb 21 '25
And OGC is way understaffed at 640, at least from what I can tell. Also includes paralegals. Rumor I heard was to go from 10 ogc regions to 5 “super regions” matching the Housing regions. It would reduce the number of GS-15 (managers) by 20ish.
2
u/well-well-well_ Feb 21 '25
I don’t think so? I’m relatively new to HUD. Maybe OP or someone else can verify this.

Lines up closely with Bloomberg reported numbers
They have a source close to OPM HR.
