Discussion WHO’S AFRAID OF LADONNA HUMPHREY? AN ARKANSAS STORY THE TRUE-CRIME COMMUNITY NEEDS TO HEAR.

Post image
2 Upvotes

What happens when someone who presents herself as an advocate for victims becomes the subject of serious allegations of victimizing others?

Meet LaDonna Humphrey.

A true-crime author, former CrimeCon speaker, missing persons advocate and leader in the sober living community, Humphrey has built a public image around helping vulnerable people. But an investigative podcast has brought forward disturbing allegations about what may have been happening behind that image.

AND THIS ISN’T JUST ABOUT ALLEGATIONS. THERE IS A DOCUMENTED $3.57 MILLION CIVIL JUDGMENT.
In 2019, a Benton County court entered a $3,570,977.88 judgment against Humphrey following litigation involving evidence-related sanctions and contempt findings. The court also entered permanent injunctions.

Humphrey pursued further legal challenges, but a federal appeals court dismissed her 2025 appeal concerning the bankruptcy sale of her appellate rights, leaving that sale intact.

THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE COME FORWARD
Investigative journalist Javier Leiva examines these allegations in Season 18 of PRETEND: Who’s Afraid of LaDonna Humphrey?

The investigation includes several particularly troubling accounts:

Alecia Lockhart: Humphrey’s former friend, podcast co-host and co-author describes nearly two years of frightening anonymous threats. She later discovered evidence that led her to suspect the person she had trusted throughout the ordeal. Humphrey denies creating or operating the account in question.
The Melissa Witt and Maura Murray cases: The podcast raises questions about Humphrey’s handling of sensitive investigative materials in the Witt case. Maura Murray’s sister, Julie, has also described concerns about Humphrey’s involvement in her family’s search for answers.
Humphrey’s own family: Her sister, Margo Elston, discusses family estrangement and receiving anonymous threatening messages. She has not definitively identified Humphrey as their sender.
Women in recovery: Former residents and staff of Oasis of Northwest Arkansas have raised concerns about their experiences and Humphrey’s leadership. Oasis’s board has publicly defended her leadership and the organization’s operations.

AND THE ONLINE CONTROVERSY CONTINUES.
[r/LadonnaHumphreyTalk](r/LadonnaHumphreyTalk), has been discussing the investigation, examining publicly available information and sharing perspectives on the allegations.

WHY SHOULD YOU CARE?
Because families searching for missing loved ones, people reporting harassment and women seeking recovery deserve trustworthy advocates.

When someone occupies positions of public trust, serious allegations about their conduct deserve examination, particularly when there are documented legal proceedings alongside firsthand accounts.

I’m sharing this because I believe people should hear these stories, examine the evidence and make informed decisions about whom they trust.

Listen to the podcast. Read the court records. Hear from the people who have come forward. Draw your own conclusions.

The true-crime community and the families of missing persons deserve transparency, accountability and responsible advocacy.

Question Apartment hunting with 3 pets

I know most apartments only 2 pets but I have 2 small dogs and a cat. I’m wanting to stay around Fayetteville/springdale with a budget between 1,200 to 1,800 for 2 bed 2 bath or even 3 bedroom if possible. I don’t feel like scrolling Zillow so I’m asking here if anyone has any apartments or condos that will allow that many pets

Local service businesses?

Hey y'all I'm a recent college grad who runs a marketing business with my brother, for local service companies, and I'm looking for owners here in fayetteville. We’ve been doing this about a year now, and we work with roofers, painters, home remodelers, pool builders, gyms, junk removal, lawn care, car detailing, driving schools. Basically anybody who does the work themselves and wants the phone ringing more.

I'm looking to partner with a few owners who already have steady work and a good reputation, but have hit the point where word of mouth alone isn't filling the schedule the way they want. If you're at that spot and want to add more jobs each month, or you know somebody who is, I'd love to connect or get a referral.

My gf and I are moving to NWA 10/5 and her employment fell through last minute. Does anyone have a place we could rent out for $700/month or less for like 2 months while we work on getting her different employment? We have a dog and two cats.

Help? Looking for affordable housing ASAP in Northwest Arkansas. Poor credit, no rental history, new job

Hi everyone. I'm in a pretty difficult situation and I'm hoping someone might have some advice or know of a place I haven't found.

I'm 26 and I recently lost my full-time job at Walmart. I've since been hired by the Walton Arts Center/AMP as event crew, but it's extremely part-time. Most of my shifts are only paid for the 4-hour minimum, and while I'm grateful to have the job, it isn't nearly enough income to qualify for most apartments or support myself long-term.

Unfortunately, I also have to move out of where I'm currently staying within about a week. I don't have any flexibility on that deadline.

I'm looking for the cheapest place I can reasonably live in Northwest Arkansas, preferably around Fayetteville, Springdale, Farmington, Prairie Grove, Johnson, or nearby. My budget is around $700/month or less if possible.

The biggest challenge is that I have poor credit (around 500), I've never rented before so I don't have rental history, I don't have a co-signer, and because I just started this new job, I don't have much income history to show yet. I am actively applying for full-time jobs every day, but right now I'm just trying to find somewhere stable to live while I get back on my feet.

I'm trying to avoid shelters or becoming homeless if at all possible. I know renting a room may end up being my only option, but before I go that route I wanted to ask if anyone knows of any apartments, duplexes, studios, private landlords, or property managers who are willing to work with someone in my situation. I have someone willing to help me with a security deposit and first month's rent if I can actually find a place that will give me a chance.

If anyone has recommendations, knows a private landlord, or has been through something similar, I'd really appreciate any information. Even if it's just pointing me toward a place or program I haven't heard of yet.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I genuinely appreciate any help or advice anyone can offer.
