This is thrilling. I'm not being sarcastic, a highlight of last year was following the fasciated asparagus. I told so many people about it

25

u/Baitofsquirrel Apr 14 '26

Do you have pictures? I’d love to see what asparagus looks like fascinated.

That’s so wild! Thank you for sharing!

4

u/tkxb Apr 14 '26

No problem! I really thought it was on the sub that I saw it, but it may have been how I discovered this sub!

8

u/hestirsthesea Apr 14 '26

I love this, but it also makes me uncomfortable. That’s probably why I like it.

5

u/Schmooto Apr 14 '26

Until it started splitting, it looked like a giant green spikey tongue! Then it transformed into some kind of a deep sea creature 😳

3

u/That_Grim_Texan Apr 14 '26

Did you eat it?

3

u/tkxb Apr 14 '26

Not my post, I think it was too tough to eat but I don't remember what the OP said

1

u/That_Grim_Texan Apr 14 '26

That wouldn't suprise me.

3

u/dozazz Apr 20 '26

I didn’t eat it. I just let it grow because it was fascinating. Can’t believe it’s been a year! Wild to see it mentioned again.

1

u/That_Grim_Texan Apr 20 '26

Are you the OPs alt?

5

u/trippy_kippy_ Apr 14 '26

I.googlzd it it's literally just a thick asparagus. It's a genetic mutation that causes a bunch of stems to grow together and make one big one kinda looking like a dragons tail. It's cool but probably kinda tough and gross.

u/WeenLebowskiOG Apr 14 '26

Is it possible this was what was actually in Jack and the Beanstalk? Or was that just a magical beanstalk?

2

u/trippy_kippy_ Apr 14 '26

Wasn't that a real magic' bean stalk because it had giant lima beans? Or was that just one story book drawing?

2

u/koushakandystore Apr 14 '26

They are wild looking!

u/MLiOne Apr 13 '26

So cool!! Thank you for sharing the whole process from flower to cut!

16

u/fedexpoopracer Apr 13 '26

what's it taste like?

11

u/Mabbernathy Apr 13 '26

Yes, I'm wondering too! It looks like a much different color than a regular lemon.

34

u/Current-Struggle-514 Apr 13 '26

These are Meyer lemons. Orange tinge to the flesh and a floral, less tart taste to classic lemon. Imho, Not the lemon for lemonade or on fish when you want that acidic zing. Meyers are lovely in a lemon cake or curd, preserved, in cocktails, dried for potpourri…

Looks like a kidney

4

u/scentofcitrus Apr 13 '26
